RE: Town of Jupiter: Alma's Place Drainage and Water Quality Improvements S169,100
(HSE 3291 /LFIR 2100); Line 1776A of the General Appropriations Act
Dear Governor DeSantis,
I am writing to express our support for the appropriation of$169,100 in the State budget for the
Town of Jupiter's Alma's Place Drainage and Water Quality Improvements Project.
This project will provide substantial environmental, public safety, and economic benefits to
Jupiter and the surrounding region. Alma's Place is a unique coastal conservation area directly
connected to the Loxahatchee River, a nationally designated Wild and Scenic River. By restoring
the drainage system, removing accumulated sediment and built-up soils,replacing aging
infrastructure, and clearing invasive vegetation,the project will improve stormwater conveyance,
reduce localized flooding, and enhance the quality of water entering the river system.
This investment aligns with Florida's commitment to environmental stewardship, water quality
improvement, and community resilience. The benefits will be realized for decades through
reduced maintenance costs, improved flood protection, and the preservation of one of Florida's
most treasured natural resources.
We appreciate your thoughtful approach to the State budget and the many competing priorities
you must balance. Thank you for your continued leadership and for all you do on behalf of the
people of Florida.
