MEMORANDUM
i~~-
TO: Connie Holloman, Finance Director
FROM: Stephen J. Allison; Chief of Police
SUBJECT: Sole Source Purchase Request
DATE: 1U/~/~~
International Police Technologies, Inc., is the only vendor who manufactures an in-car
video system built around the Sony Handycam. We have been replacing the old, fixed
mount video systems in our patrol cars over the.: last three years. The two units I am
requesting permission to purchase will complete the outfitting of our marked units with a
standard video system.
Standardization of equipment is important for training and use issues. Interchangeability
of parts and accessories, such as remote and covert microphones, is another consideration
• when purchasing these items.
The systems from Intemational Police Technologies, Inc. have been the most reliable we
have used. (We have tried three other brands with results from poor to fair.)
