ORDINANCE NO. 227
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA,
FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR DETERMINING THE
VALUATION OF A HOUSE OR PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION;
FOR BUILDING PERMIT PURPOSES; ESTABLISHING
A VALUATION SCHEDULE; ESTABLISHING PERMIT
FEE SCHEDULES; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE
OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES; PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 74-167 of the Laws of
Florida which requires all local governments with building
construction regulation responsibilities to adopt an interim
building code which covers all types of construction, the Village
Council of the Village of Tequesta on January 14, 1975, did by
Ordinance No. 224 of the Village of Tequesta unanimously adopt by
reference the Southern Standard Plumbing Code, 1971 Edition, 1974
Revision; the National Electrical Code, 1975 Edition; the Southern
Standard Gas Code, 1973 Edition, 1974 Revision; and the Southern
Standard Housing Code, 1973 Edition, as amended, and;
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta
hereby decides that the method of evaluating a house or proposed
construction be revised consistent with regional, state and
nationally recognized rates, schedules and practices which include
building valuation schedules revised and published semi-annually
by the Markel Appraisal Chart Company of Cincinnati, Ohio;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF TEQU:c;STA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA;

shall be determined by a cubic soot valuation as based on the
method set forth by the Markel Appraisal Charts as follows:

A. Add 8% of Unit Cubic Foot Value for Heating and
Air Conditioning
Contractor Discount - 10% only on Project Housing
over 10 units
Private Garages - Add 50% of Unit Cubic Foot Value
Carports and Open Porches - Add 33% of Unit Cubic

Add 5% for Extra Bath to Unit Cubic Foot Value

outside dimensions of a building.
Section 2. On all buildings, structures, or alterations
requiring a building permit as set forth in the Village of
Teauesta Building Code, fee shall be paid to the Village Clerk as
required at the time of filing application in accordance with the
following schedule:

charged for each reinspection made due
to condemnation (red tag) of work, work
not ready at the time specified in the
application for inspection, or for failure
to call for final or other inspection.
Section 4. On all electrical work requiring a permit
as set forth in the Village of Tecxuesta Electrical Code, fees
shall be paid to the Village Clerk as required at the time of
filing application in accordance with the following schedule
The minimum fee for any permit for electrical work
will be $5.00.

When extra inspection trips are necessary due
to any one of the following reasons, a charge
of $3.00 shall be made for each trip-
1. Wrong address
2. Condemned work
3. Repairs or correction not made when inspection
called for
4. Work not ready for inspect~_on when called
Section 5. On all air conditioning work requiring a
permit as set forth in the Village of Tequesta Building Code,
fees shall be paid to the Village Clerk as required at the time
of filing application in accordance with the following schedule;
1. Fee for issuing each permit - $5.00
2. Fee for heating, ventilating, ducts, air conditioning
and refrigeration systems shall be three dollars
($3.00) per thousand or fraction thereof.
3. Repairs, alterations and additions to an existing
system where the cost is over five hundred dollars
($50.00) shall be three dollars ($3.00) per
thousand or fraction thereof.

4. In all buildings except one and two family dwellings
using self-contained air conditioning units of less
than two tons, the fee charged shall be that for
the total tonnage of all units combined at a rate
of three dollars ($3.00) per thousand or fraction
thereof. The minimum fee shall be ten dollars
($10.00) .
5. In case it becomes necessary to make a re-inspection
of a heating, ventilating, air conditioning or
refrigeration system, the installer of such
equipment shall pay a re-inspection fee of five
dollars ($ 5.00) .
Section 6. On all gas installation work requiring a
permit as set forth in the Village of Tequesta Gas Code, fees
shall be paid to the Village Clerk as required at the time of
filing application in accordance with the following schedule:
1. The sum of three ($3.00) dollars for each gas piping
system of one to five outlets and fifty (.50) cents
for each additional outlet.
2. The sum of two ($2.00) dollars per unit for the
inspection of conversion burners, floor furnaces,
incinerators, boilers, central heating or air
conditioning units.
3. The sum of two ($2.00) dollars per unit for the
inspection of vented wall furnaces and water
heaters.
4. An additional fee of three ($3.00) dollars shall be
charged when a re-inspection is required.
5. Any and all fees shall be paid by the person to whom
the permit is issued.
Section 7. A fee double the regular fee shall be charged
for every job started without a permit.
Section 8. All ordinances or parts or ordinances in
conflict herewith be, and the same are, hereby repealed.
Section 9. Nothing in this ordinance hereby adopted
shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding now pending
in any court, or any rights accrued or existing, under any act
or ordinance repealed hereby.
Section l0. The invalidity of any section or provision
of this ordinance or of the codes hereby adopted shall not

Section 11. This ordinance shall take effect upon
its passage and approval as provided by law.

N0. 227; CHANGING OF PERMIT FEE SCHEDULES; AND
PROVIDING THAT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE
NO. 227 BE AS ORIGINALLY ADOPTED

Section 1. Section 5.1 of Ordinance No. 227 of the ..
Village of Tequesta, Florida, shall be, and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"1. Minimum air conditioning permit fee - $5.00"
Section 2. Section 6 of Ordinance No. 227 of the
Village of Tequesta, Florida, shall be, and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"On all gas installation or dismantling work requiring
a permit as set forth in the Village of Tequesta Gas Code, fees shall
be paid to the Village Clerk as required at the time of filing
application in accordance with the following schedule:
1. Minimum gas installation or dismantling fee -.$5.00
2. The sum of three ($3.00) dollars for each gas
piping system of one to five outlets and fifty
(.50) cents for each additional outlet.
3. The sum of two ($2.00) dollars per unit for-the
inspection of conversion burners, floor furnaces,
incinerators, boilers, central heating or air
conditioning units.
4. The sum of two ($2.00) dollars per unit for the
