HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance_224_01/14/1975~` }' • • ORDINANCE NO. 224 AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, DEMOLITION, OCCUPANCY, EQUIPMENT, USE, HEIGHT, AREA, AND MAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES IN THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS THEREFORE; DECLARING AND ESTABLISHING A FIRE DISTRICT; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. WHEREAS, within the jurisdictional limits of the Village of Tequesta there may be buildings unsafe for human use or occupancy due to inadequate structural stability, defects which increase the hazards of fire, accident, or other calamities, and which by reason of a desire to banish conditions dangerous or detrimental to the health, safety and general welfare of this jurisdictional area; and WHEREAS, it has now become common knowledge that these conditions can be relieved, in a measure prevented and Qften eliminated through planned and properly enforced minimum building codes, resulting thereby in upgrading the safety and welfare of residents and property owners of this jurisdictional area; and WHEREAS, Chapter 74-167 of the Laws of Florida requires that all local governments with building construction regulation responsibilities, that do not have in effect codes regulating all phases of construction, shall adopt an interim building code which covers all types of construction by January 1, 1975. NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Southern Standard Building Code, 1973 Edition, 1974 Revision: The Southern Standard Plumbing~Code,~1971 Edition, 1974 Revision: The National Electrical Code, 1975 Edition; The Southern Standard Gas Code, 1973 Edition 1974 Revision; and the Southern Standard Housing Code, 1973 Edition, as amended, of which copies have been and are now filed in the office of the Building Official of the Village of Tequesta and the same are hereby • i . f • ~i • , adopted and incorporated as forth at length herein, and which this ordinance shall provisions therein shall be the area of jurisdiction of Tequesta. fully as if set from the date on take effect, the controlling in the Village of Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in force at the time that this ordinance is adopted shall remain in force. Those ordinances other than the zoning ordinance which are specifically known to be in conflict with this ordinance shall be hereby repealed. Section 5.
