HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance_198_06/20/1972• • ORDINANCE NO. 198 An Ordinance establishing the amount of notice for special meetings in accordance with Section 2.09 of the Charter of the Village of Tequesta, Florida. WHEREAS, Section 2.09 of the Charter of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, adopted by referendum on January 11, 1972, and filed on February 1, 1972, in the office of the Secretary of State, states that the amount of notice for special meetings shall be determined by the Village Council by ordinance. NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLARIDA, as follows: SECTION 1. Special meetings may be called at any time. How- ever, at least three (3) days notice must be given. Such notice may be by announcement at a regularly scheduled Council meeting or may be in writing, signed by the Village Manager or Mayor. If notice is given by mail, it shall be mailed to the residence of each Village~Councilman, and the notice period shall begin on the date of mailing. The contents of the above described notice shall be placed in a conspicuous place in the Village Hall. SECTION 2. If all Councilmen consider the matter to be taken up at the special meeting to be urgent and of sufficient importance to the welfare of the Village, the three (3) days set forth in Section 1 above may be waived by the unanimous consent of all five (5} Council- men. Such waiver shall be in writing and shall be spread upon the minutes of the meeting. The notice shall still be placed in a con- spicuous place in the Village Hall. SECTION 3. The only matters to be considered at special meetings shall be those matters set forth in the notice described herein. • • SECTION 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances, in con- flict be, and the same are hereby, repealed. SECTION 5. That this Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval, as provided by law.
