COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLEIGE OF TEQUESTA, FIARIDA
A Public Hearing ~~as held by the CounciLnen of the Village of
Tequesta, Florida oa May 2I, 1965, at 8:00 P,I~~. at the Church of the Good
Shepherd, Seabrook Road. Councilmen present were: Nles~rs: Valier, Turnbull,
Bowden, Cernolius and Sylvester. Also present were Robert Harp, Village
Clark a~md tJilliam A. Lord, Vi lla,ge Attorney.
Councilman Sylvester exg;la,ined to the large audience present that
he believed it would be to the best in~:erest of all parties concerned if
he would disqualify himself from sitting as a Councilr.~an for this Hearinb.
His request was approved by the Councilmen and tilr. Sylvester removed hiu3self
to the audience as a spectator.
Mayor Valier instructed the Clerk to read the published notice
of ache meeting and the letter from Di9osta Construction Company requesting
that the Tlillage Council zone Lots 14, 15, 16 and Parcel No. 2, Block "D",
Jupiter Manors, Section One, R-2, Multiple Family Dwelling District.
Attorney Robert ric~7oberts, acting in behalf of DiVosta Construe-
tion Company, stated the proposed apartment building t~rould be ro
stories in height erith adequate parking facilities along Tequesta Drive
and Sevilla Road. Others speaking in favor of P.-2 zoning were:

All speaking against zoning for multiple dwellings generally
stated the following:
1. Devaluation of surrounding properties.
2. Surrounding zoning teas R-i when property purchased.
3. tTould establish a precedent.
A~Ir. T. E. Clemons of Bap Harbor stated that the Councilmen were
elected by the; residents of the Village and believed they would consider
what was good for the entire copauunity.
Dr. J. T. Prince of Anchorage Point said he believed planning
for the entire area is necessary.
• Attorney McRoberts and Mr. DiVosta advised Attorney John Sums
that there mere ao oral or written agreements regarding the subject pro-
perty in eveht it would not be zoned P.-2.
Couacilm~n Boiti~den spoke favorably for a two (2) story apartment
bt:i.lding with parking places from view on Tequesta Drive and ievilla Road.
Barden moved that the subject parcel of land be zoned R-2 Frith
parking removed from Tequesta Drive. Attorney Lord advised that the
restriction as to parking could not be included in the motion. Borden
retracted the motion. Botrden then rwved that Lots 14, 15, 16 and Parcel
Ito. 2, Block "D", Jupiter Manors, Section One be zoned R-2 according to
the Village of Tequesta Official Zoning-Ordinance. Motion was seconded
by Cornelius. Vote was as follows:

Against the motion:
None
All four Councilmen being in xavor of the motion, the motican
for coning the subject property R-2 eras passed.
Attorney Lord is to prepare ordinance to provide for the zoning
of the subject property.
