y i4 MINUTES OF THE COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA At 8 :00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 10, 1957, the first meeting of the councilmen of The Village of Tequesta, Florida, was held at the office of Thomas H. Daly, Inc., Village Square, Jupiter, Florida. Those present were Ledyard D. Gardner, Gene Moore, Albert D. Alderman, Thomas H. Daly, C. W. Pietz, Walter F. Lathrop and John P. Kurtz, Jr. The first order of business was the swearing in of the five councilmen, namely: Albert D. Alderman, Thomas H. Daly, C. W. Pietz, Walter F. Lathrop and John P. Kurtz, Jr. Each were sworn in and signed an oath of office and same are attached hereto and become part of these records. A motion was made and carried appointing the following officials: Mayor John P. Kurtz, Jr. Vice -Mayor C. W. Pietz Village Tax Assessor Albert D. Alderman Village Tax Collector Thomas H. Daly Village Clerk Walter F. Lathrop The resolution was signed by each of the councilmen and is attached hereto. Each of the officers were sworn in and signed an oath of office and same are attached hereto. John P. Kurtz, Jr. was appointed Village Treasurer, sworn in and signed an oath of office. On motion duly made and carried the Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony, Inc. Office at Village Square, Jupiter, Florida, was designated as the official office of the Village of Tequesta and it was agreed that the councilmen would meet here the second Wednesday of each month at 8:00 PM. Municipal Dock X1,000.00 b. Police Department 1,500.00 c. Fire Department 300.00 d. Legal Fees 1,800.00 e. Secretarial 2,500.00 f. Miscellaneous 1,000.OG TOTAL X8,100.00 BE IT FUR TN ER RESOLVED That the duly appointed Mayor of the Village of Tequesta is hereby authorized to borrow money from a willing lender, or lenders, corporate or oth erwise, in an amount not exceeding the above total appropriated expenditures, and to execute the note of the Village of Tequesta covering said obligation, said note to bear interest at a rate not exceeding 6 per cent per annum and payable within one year after date. BE IT FtiRTi?~R RESOLVED That the duly appointed Village Treasurer is hereby authorized to open a checking account in the name of the Village of Teouesta and to deposit in said account all moneys derived from the above loan when, as and if consummated. The BAD?K OF PALM BEACH AND TRt1ST COMPANY of Palm Beach, Florida, is hereby designated as the official depository for the Village of Tequesta, Florida. The Village Treasurer shall be the sole person authorized to draw checks upon the above account. On motion duly made and seconded the fine of Winters, Cook, Brackett and Lord were designated as Village Attorney for the Village of Teauesta. The Councilmen heard the first reading of Ordinance #1 and adopted it unanimously. Ordinance #1 is attached hereto. The Councilmen heard the first reading of Ordinance #2 and adopted it unanimously. Ordinance #2 is attached hereto. On motion duly made and seconded A. A. Flanagan was appointed Village Judge of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, and was later sworn in by Thomas H. Daly and A. A. Flanagan signed an oath. of office which is attached hereto. Highway No. 1, Jupiter, Florida, is hereby designated to be the central office of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, until such time as a permanent location can be established within the municipal limits of said municipality; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the second Wednesday of each and every month hereafter is hereby designated as the date on which the monthly meeting of the Village Council shall be held. In the event said date falls upon a legal holiday, said meeting shall be held on the following day thereafter. Dated this 10th day of July, A. D. 1957. cl"6 zs -- ~ ~~ Mayor /i Attest: ' i' ~ G4 % ~ •~.~ L Vil ag Cler R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, inasmuch as it is essential that the services of an attorney-at-law be retained for the purpose of advising the Village Council on all matters legal prior to the undertaking of any measures or actions; and, WHEREAS, the firm of Winters, Cook, Brackett and Lord of the City of West Palm Beach, Florida, has agreed to serve in the above capacity for a fee of Fifty Dollars ($50) per month, together with such additional fees as may be agreed upon between said firm and the Village Council for any services rendered over and above the above counselling, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the firm of Winters, Cook, Brackett and Lord is hereby designated as Village Attorney for the Village of Tequesta, Florida, and is hereby retained for the purpose and under the terms hereinabove stated.
