Over the summer, the Parks and Rec-
reation Department hosted a contest
for local students to name the park.
More than 80 names were submitted
and six finalists were selected.
During the September Village Coun-
cil meeting, the council unanimously
chose Jupiter Middle School student
Susan Paterno's submission of "Para-
dise Park."
She recalls her inspiration as being
"Tequesta is paradise! We have fun fes-
tivals and water all around."
She envisions the park as a nice
place for children to play and for resi-
dents to bring their dogs.
Susan Paterno herself has a Boston
terrier named "Holly."
The award for her inspiration was
$100.
When asked what she plans to do
with the money, Susan replied, "Shop
ping ... maybe a new phone ... anc
spend some on my dog."
The 3-acre parcel, between Tequestz
Drive and Bridge Road and east of the
railroad tracks, is the joint partner
ship between the village of Tequestc
and landowner John Zuccarelli.
The village is leasing the property
for five years for $1 annually.
