HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_07-10_03/16/2010RESOLUTION 7-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, CERTIFYING THE RESULTS OF THE REGULAR ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 9, 2010 FOR THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA COUNCIL; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the regular election for three Village Council seats for the Village of Tequesta was held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010; and WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office have presented to the Village of Tequesta the certified results of said election and they have made their canvass of ballots as required by law; and WHEREAS, the Village Council did assemble together on the 16th day of March, 2010 during a Special Village Council Meeting to certify the election results. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA Section 1. Upon canvas of the election returns as presented by the Supervisor of Elections Election Board and as certified by the Village Clerk, the Village Council hereby declares and certifies that electors cast their ballots as follows: A. Seat 1: (two year term) Vince Arena, having run unopposed, is hereby declared elected to said office. B. Seat 3: (two year term) Catherine Harding 344 votes 43.99% James Humpage 438 votes 56.01 James Humpage having received the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared elected to said ofi'ice. C. Seat 5: (two year term) Frank D'Ambra III 288 votes 37.11 Calvin D. Turnquest 488 votes 62.89% Calvin Turnquest, having received the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared elected to said office. Section 2. The foregoing tabulation of the votes cast is hereby certified as the results of the regular and special election. Section 3. The Village Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Supervisor of Elections of Palm Beach County, and to post a copy for public notice. Section 4. This Resolution will take effect immediately upon adoption. The foregoing Resolution was offered by Vice-Mayor Paterno who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Council Member Humpage and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: Mayor Pat Watkins Vice-Mayor Tom Paterno Council Member Vince Arena X X Council Member Jim Humpage X Council Member Calvin Turnquest X The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this 16th day of March, 2010.
