Doesn't give room for exception of any kind by anyone for any reason. Sec. 78-733 Permit Required Concern: Repair and maintenance- if we needed to put new screws in or shore up signs and can't even keep the sign looking good without first getting a permit and paying permit fees. Sec. 78-734 Applications for Permit Concern: Two (2) sealed plans and specs with stress sheets and calculation for wind pressure. Does this also mean screwed on or glued lettering or painted signs on windows? Sec. 78-735 Issuance of Permit Concern: (b) ...without unreasonable or unnecessary delay. Would like to see a number of days put in here Sec. 78-737 Painting Concern: change to painting of signs is required at the discretion of from the date of the issuance of the permit, or more often if deemed advisable by the Village. Sec. 78-738 Wind pressure and dead load Concern: All Signs to withstand a wind Ioad...What about signs on windows or doors. Sec. 78-740 General restrictions ~' ~/~ ~l Concern: (2)..not including properties within shopping center, not sure what that means as it relates to this section. (3) fixed ceiling-mounted signs on shopping center walkways will be allowed..this contradicts itself Sec. 78-741 Technical requirements Concern: (b)(1)b. There maybe a sign over head, but if you are walking under an eve or awning you can't see what business is at the store front. Businesses should be able to have a sing on the wall or window in addition to the overhead sing. The overall sign sq. ft that is allowed may have to be increased. Sec. 78-742 Exemptions Concern: (k) this only allows for basically a 20"x24" sign (m) Temporary signs announcing a new business should be 1/3 the size of the window with a provision for "Coming Soon" to also be 1/3 the size of the window. Sec. 78-745 Prohibitions in all zoning categories Concern: (c) outline lighting, would like to be able to have rope lighting. Concern: (e) would like to have same thing as the VOT. What happens when there is no rear parking in the commercial district. Concern: (r) would like to allow at least 3 days for a special event. IN ADDITION; 1. Would like to be able to have OPEN" signs outside the store. 2. Would like to be able to have a sandwich type sign of a certain size not to impede traffic. 3. Would like to be able to have at least one item outside store that would coincide with what is sold on the inside. Questions: 1. Is it true that the Village is going to all green lettering for signs 2. What about corp. logos and coloring Suggestions: 1. A sign on US#1 that points to Village Hall, Lighthouse Center for the Arts, etc. 2. Allow temporary signs while the bridge is under construction. 3. Allow banner for Grand Opening" for new businesses for 30 days. 4. Enforce removal of signs that are still up long after businesses have closed. 5. Sidewalk sales allowed at least once a year.
