Dept became unionized in  2007 Contract currently covers  15 Firefighters and Rescue Officers/Lieutenants nd 2contract negotiated  which covers FY2010-2013 IAFF represents most of  the fire personnel in the surrounding municipalities /counties 2010 NEGOTIATING TEAMS VILLAGE OF TEQUESTAIAFF Michael Couzzo Jr., Michael Mayo, Pres.,  Village ManagerProfessional Firefighters of PBC, Local 2928 Jody Forsythe, Finance  DirectorRay Giblin, Negotiating  Team Member Merlene Reid, Human  Resources DirectorPeter Allen, Negotiating  Team Member Leonard Carson, Labor  Attorney (contacted as needed and reviews at various milestones) NEGOTIATION PROCESS SUMMARY 50 articles in IAFF Agreement  IAFF requested 5 be opened  VOT requested an additional  11 be opened 2 Negotiation meetings held  April 13 & May 19 2 meetings with Council to  make recommendations and get their directive By June 7 IAFF met with EEs &  ratified Agreement AGREEMENT HIGHLIGHTS MEDICAL INSURANCE Current Contract EE don’t contribute to  their insurance EE pays 25% of dependents  premium New Contract (Eff 10/1/11) Single EEs pay $25 per pay  period to their insurance EEs with family pay $50  per pay period to their premium (in addition to 25%) Agreement Highlights Cont’d PAY PLAN Current Contract Approx 5% annual increase  New Contract 2010/11 -No inc/move  2011/13 -step movements  resumes (approx 3% incr) 2012/13 opener clause to  assess increases to the steps Agreement Highlights cont’d PENSION Current Contract Pension multiplier average  of 3.1% per year Pension calculated on  wages and all payments New Contract (NEW HIRES ONLY) Multiplier of 2% for first 6  years & 2.5% thereafter Lump sum payments,  overtime etc excluded HOW DID WE GET HERE SO QUICKLY? Relationship of trust between the IAFF Union/Management  & Council Professional approach by Union Reps Ray Giblin & Peter  Allen and President Michael Mayo who did their homework & fully grasp the overall Village long/short-term fiscal position Exceptional Council members who constantly balance needs  of Village with employee needs Special thanks to our ever creative Village Manager who has a  solution ready before the problem is even fully defined
