HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Historic_05/06/2010 VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES THURSDAY, MAY 6, 2010 Call to Order and Roll Call The Village of Tequesta Historic Preservation Committee held a regularly scheduled meeting at the Tequesta Village Hall, 345 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida, on Thursday, May 6, 2010. The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by Chair Bethany Humpage. Present were Bethany Humpage, Alice Klimas, Dottie Campbell, and Patricia Marie. Also in attendance were Village Clerk Lori McWilliams, and Recording Secretary Betty Laur. Board Member Lee Resnik was absent from the meeting. Lynn Drake, Archivist & Research Specialist for Loxahatchee River Historical Society was present as a guest. Village Clerk McWilliams announced that Board Member Klimas would not be continuing on the committee. 1. Approval of 11/18/09 Minutes MOTION: Board Member Klimas made a motion to approve the 11/18/09 minutes as submitted. Board Member Marie seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous 4 -0 vote. 2. Discussion of Frames for Lobby Village Clerk McWilliams advised the frames which were displayed were from Costco. Recording Secretary Laur explained how the hangers on the back could be bent or wires could be added for hanging if needed. MOTION Board Member Campbell made a motion to purchase picture frames: 5 sets of the following sizes: 8x10, 11x14, and 2x3. Motion was seconded by Alice Klimas and unanimously carried 4 -0. 3. Review Historical Memorabilia Received by Residents for Historical Archiving Historic Preservation Committee Meeting May 6, 2010 Page 2 The Committee reviewed collections provided by Evelyne Bates and Marge Harp, item by item, and placed a temporary marker on those pieces they wished to copy. Ms. Drake advised she had some of the newspapers on disk and could provide that to the Village. A booklet in the Bates collection had been published by Ellison Graphics, so it was suggested they be contacted to see if they might have items pertaining to Tequesta history. In the case of a plaque in the Harp collection, it was suggested a picture be taken of Mrs. Harp standing by the plaque when it was placed on display. Village Clerk McWilliams indicated she would copy the items which were marked. The Historic Committee requested the 50 Anniversary banner be hung below the clock in the Council Chambers. The Committee requested Ed Ficker and John Randolph be contacted for historical items. Ms. Drake advised the Neighborhood Post had items on the web at neighborhood - post.com. Board had discussed possible appointments for the seat being vacated by Alice Klimas, and decided to recommend that Pauline Hutchinson be suggested 4. Schedule Next Meeting The Committee invited Ms. Drake to attend their next meeting on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10 a.m. Ms. Drake invited the Committee to visit the Loxahatchee River Historical Museum. 5. Any Other Matters The Committee discussed a possible replacement for Board Member Klimas.
