AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALK BEACH COUNTY,
FLORIDA, ADOPTING AND INCORPORATING BY AS ITS
ELi:CTRIC CODE, ITS PLUMBING CODE, AND ITS BUIIDING CODE
THE OFFICIAL CODE OF THE COUNTY OF PALM BEACH, FLORIDA; ./
ESTABLISHING CERTAIN ADDITIONAL UIREMENTS FOR SEPTIC
TANKS AND FOR GRANTING BUILDING PERMITS;
PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF; ACID LNG
ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT TH
WHEXEAS the Village of Tequesta has authority, pursuant
to Section 165.191, Florida Statutes, 1955, to adapt or incorporate by
reference any published code of rules and regulations and to stake the
same the laws of the Village of Tequesta; and
WHEREAS three copies of the Electric Code, the Plumbing
Code, and the Building Code of the County of Palm Beach, Florida, are
filed in the office of the Village Clerk, and are there to be kept
available for public use, inspection and examination; and
WHERBAS, said three copies of said Codes have been on file
with the Village Clerk for a period of more than ten (10) days prior
to the date of the passage of this ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council deems it expedient and to the
best interests of the Village of Tequesta that said Codes be adopted
and incorporated in accordance with the provisions of Section 1650191,
Florida Statutes, 1955,

THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALL BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Electric Code, the Plumbing Code, and
the Building Code of the County of Palm Beach, Florida, be and the
same are hereby adopted as the Electric Code, the Plumbing Coda, and
the Building Code of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, and may be
cited hereafter as such.
Section 2. That if any section, sub- section, sentence,
clause or phrase of said Codes is for any reason held to be
unconstitutional, such shall not affect the validity of the remain-
ing portions of said Codes.
Section 3. Any septic tanks installed within the corporate
limits of the Village of Tequesta shall, in addition to the require-
ments of the above mentioned Codes, have the following requirements,
to -wit:
(a) Septic,tanks for a two- bedroom house shall have a
minimum capacity of 800 gallons.
(b) Septic tanks for a three- bedroom house shall have a
minimum capacity of 900 gallons.
(c) Septic tanks for a four - bedroom house shall have a
minimum capacity of 1,000 gallons,,
(d) There shall be 30 square feet of drain field for each
Af 1,00 gallons, um with a minim width of 18 inches and a width
48 inches.
(e) The drain field shall consist of 6 inches of crushed
rock and then tile covered with 8 inches of crushed rock
(f) There shall be at least 6 inches of dirt over the
drain field but not more than 22 inches.
(g) All clothes washers shall have a separate dry well of
a capacity of at least 50 gallons.
Section 4. The issuance of building permits shall be
governed, in addition to the requirements of the above mentioned
Codes, by the following requirements, to -Twit;
(a) Two copies of the detailed specifications of the pro -.
posed building shall be submitted with the application for a building
permit, and if approved, one shall be stamped for the contractor and
the other given to the building inspector and returned to the office
of the Village after the final inspection, to be retained in the
permanent records of the Village.
(b) The value of a house or proposed construction shall be
determined ^ by multiplying the square footage of the house by For
the purposes of determining value, the square footage of a carport,
garage or roofed -in porch shall be at one half its square -foot ar"

and for a patio, at one fourth its square -foot area.
(c) The cost of the permit shall be $3 per $1,000 up to
a value of $15,000 and $2 per $1,000 over a value of $15,000.
(d) An electric permit shall be based upon 1e, per square
foot using the same basis for determination as shown above.
(e) A plumbing permit shall be based upon 1� per square
foot using the same basis for determination as shown above.
Section 5 . Any person, firm or corporation found guilty
of violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor; and each such person, firm or corporation
shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day
or portion thereof during which any violation of the provisions of
this ordinance is continued and permitted; and upon conviction of any
such violation, such person, firm or corporation shall be punished
by a fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment in the Village
jail for not more than thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
Section 6. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be, and the same are, hereby repealed.
Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its passage and approval as provided by law.
