AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY,
FLORIDA, REGULATING PEACE AND GOOD ORDER, PROHIBITING DRUNKEN-
NESS, HOUSES OF ILL FAME, PROSTITUTION AND VAGRANCY, AND
PROHIBITING PARTICIPATION IN ANY GAME.OF CHANCE WITHIN THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR A VIOLATION
HEREOF AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH
COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1 . That whoever wilfully disturbs the peace of another,
by violence, tumultuous or offensive demeanor, loud or unusual noise,
profane, obscene or offensive language, or other conduct calculated to
provoke a breach of the peace, or by assaulting, striking, threatening or
frightening another; or shall permit the same to be done upon premises in
his possession, custody or control, so that others in the vicinity are
disturbed thereby, shall be deemed guilty of violating this ordinance.
Section 2 . That whoever shall disturb any congregation met for
religious worship, by any noise, rude or indecent behavior, or profane
discourse, in any place of worship, or so near there as to disturb the
order and solemnity of the meeting, shall be deemed guilty of violating
this ordinance.
Section 3 . That whoever shall become drunk or intoxicated or
shall be found in a state of intoxication in the Village of Tequesta shall
be deemed guilty of violating this ordinance.
Section 4 . That every person being, or having the general
reputation of being a "bunco man ", "con man ", "wire tapper ", or "fake
horse race promoter" is hereby declared to be a vagrant, and shall be
deemed guilty of violating this ordinance.
Section 5 . That whoever shall keep or maintain a house of ill
fame, or a house or other place resorted to for the purpose of prostitution;
or whoever shall lease to another a house, room or structure, or a portion

thereof, to be used for the purpose of prostitution, or any other lewd,
lascivious or immoral purpose, the lessor knowing or having reason to
believe that the place is to be used for any of such purposes, shall be
deemed guilty of violating this ordinance.
Section 6 . That any female guilty of prostitution, or soliciting
or attempting to solicit for the purpose of prostitution, or being an inmate
in a house of prostitution, or any male person visiting a house of prostitu-
tion, except he shall go there upon business of a strictly legitimate
character, shall be deemed guilty of violating this ordinance.
Section 7 . That all rogues and vagabonds; idle and dissolute
persons, tramps who go about begging; persons who use juggling or unlawful
games or plays, common drunkards, common night - walkers, pilferers, s tubborn
children, common pipers or fiddlers, lewd, wanton and lascivious persons in
speech or behavior, common railers and brawlers, persons who neglect their
calling or employment, or who have no visible means of support, or who
misspend what they earn, and do not provide for themselves or their families,
and all other idle and disorderly persons, including those who habitually
misspend their time by frequenting a house of ill fame, gambling house or
tippling shop shall be considered vagrants, and deemed guilty of violating
this ordinance.
Section 8 . That it shall be unlawful for any person within the
corporate limits of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, to participate in
any game of chance whether with cards, dice or by any other means whereby
any sum is wagered or to be collected upon the outcome of any such game of
chance.
Section 9 . That it shall be unlawful for any person to operate
any gambling table, slot machine or other instruments for gambling purposes.
Section 10 . That any person violating any provision of this
ordinance shall be fined a sum not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500)
or imprisoned in the Village prison, or at hard labor upon the streets or
other works of said Village, not to exceed ninety (90) days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment.
