HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_10-93/94_01/13/1994 �1 RESOLUTION NO. 10 -93/94 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING POLLING LOCATIONS, ELECTION OFFICIALS, AND INSPECTORS OF ELECTION, AND ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION SCHEDULED TO BE HELD MARCH 8, 1994. WHEREAS, the Village Council adopted the uniform filing and election dates as adopted previously by the Legislature of the State of Florida (House Bill 742), designating the second Tuesday in March as the uniform election date for any election relating to a municipal office; and designating a filing period for candidates for any municipal office in Palm Beach County from noon on the last Tuesday in January through and not later than noon on the second Tuesday in February of the calendar year; and WHEREAS, Section 2.01 of the Village Charter provides that Councilmembers shall be elected at large to Seats 1, 3 and 5 in the even years; and WHEREAS, Section 8 of the Village Code of Ordinances • provides that Council may designate by Resolution polling locations, election officials, and Inspectors of Election, election procedures, and other incidentals required to conduct the Village Municipal Election; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, desires to designate polling locations, election officials, and Inspectors of Election and establish election procedures in the event that it becomes necessary to conduct a Municipal Election on March 8, 1994. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: Section 1. Notice is hereby given that a Municipal Election is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, March 8, 1994. The polling location for Precinct 2 voters will be the Village Hall Council Chambers, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida, and the polling location for Precinct 14 voters will be the First Presbyterian Church of Tequesta, Fellowship Hall, 482 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. election day. Section 2. In accordance with the provisions of Section 8 -2(b) Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances, the • Village Clerk shall be the Clerk of Elections and shall supervise the conduct of the Municipal Election, in accordance with the State of Florida Election Laws and Village Ordinances. . Section 3. That the names of the designated Inspectors of Election will be chosen from the following list of qualified poll workers: Ruth Andrews Patricia Kloiber Emilienne Bigbie Viola Lipari Ruth Butterfield Mimi Ludwig Dorothy Campbell Palma Pescitelli William Eidson Henry Robinson, Jr. Jeannette Gould Gertrude Schroeder Jane Ann Hansen Joseph Sims and that, in the event that any of the above named individuals are not able to serve as an Inspector of Election, the Village Clerk shall designate an Inspector(s) from the Palm Beach i County Supervisor of Elections list of qualified poll workers residing in Tequesta. Section 4. That the Village Manager shall authorize payment of the Inspectors of Election per the rates in effect for poll workers of the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office in the event that said Municipal Election is necessary. Section 5. Jackie Winchester, Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, and Joann Manganiello, Village of Tequesta Village Clerk, are appointed members of the Village of Tequesta Canvassing Board for the purpose of conducting the Municipal Election. Section 6. The provisions of the Florida Elections code relating to absentee ballots shall apply to the Village Municipal Election, and absentee balloting shall be administered by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office. Section 7. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office is designated to tabulate the ballots cast at the Village Municipal Election. Section 8. The Village Clerk, or her appointed designee, shall provide a copy of this Resolution to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections. Section 9. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED by Councilmember Burckart , who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Schauer , and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: • FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION Earl L. Collings Ron T. Mackail Joseph N.
