HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_07-93/94_01/13/1994 i RESOLUTION NO. 7 — 9394 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING CONCERN REGARDING THE SAFETY OF SCHOOL CHILDREN. WHEREAS, the Village Council is charged with the responsibility of protecting and advancing the health, safety and welfare of all its citizens; and WHEREAS, Tequesta children attend several schools within the Palm Beach County School District; and WHEREAS, parents of children who reside within Tequesta have expressed concern regarding the safety of school children due to the possible presence of lethal weapons in or around the schools. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: • SECTION 1. The School Board of Palm Beach County is urged to adopt appropriate policies or rules and to enforce the same to address the potential presence of lethal weapons in or around schools which are attended by residents of the Village of Tequesta. SECTION 2. The Village Clerk is authorized and directed to transmit this Resolution on behalf of the Village Council to the School Board of Palm Beach County. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember William E. Burckart , who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Elizabeth A. Schauer , and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION Ron T. Mackail Earl L. Collings Joseph N. Capretta William E. Burckart • Elizabeth A.
