RESOLUTION NO. 2 -9394
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY,
FLORIDA, EXPRESSING THE VILLAGE COUNCIL'S
SUPPORT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSED
NORTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY CAMPUS OF FLORIDA
ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY IN THE AREA NORTH OF
DONALD ROSS ROAD AND WEST OF MILITARY TRAIL;
AND URGING THE GOVERNOR AND CABINET, THE
FLORIDA LEGISLATURE, THE PALM BEACH COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION, THE BOARD OF REGENTS
AND THE PRESIDENT OF FLORIDA ATLANTIC
UNIVERSITY TO SUPPORT THE NEW CAMPUS IN
NORTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY WITHIN THE TOWN
OF JUPITER.
WHEREAS, Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has expressed an
interest in establishing a permanent university campus in
northern Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, a study committee has, in cooperation with Florida
Atlantic University, investigated potential sites for a North
County Florida Atlantic University campus; and
WHEREAS, the MacArthur Foundation owns land north of Donald
Ross road and west of Military trail that is a desirable
location for the North County Florida Atlantic University
campus; and
WHEREAS, the subject property is located within the Town of
Jupiter's future annexation area; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Jupiter as an incorporated municipality in
the State of Florida is responsible for the health, safety, and
welfare of all if its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta encourages the development of
a North County Florida Atlantic University campus in an area
which possesses urban infrastructure such as roads, potable
water, sanitary sewers, and existing railroad lines to provide
for future utilization of mass transit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Village of Tequesta endorses the development
of a permanent North Palm Beach County Florida Atlantic
University campus upon the MacArthur Foundation property that
lies north of Donald Ross Road and west of Military Trail as a
proper and suitable location for the said North County campus.
• Section 2. The Village Council strongly urges the Governor
and Cabinet, the Florida Legislature, the Board of Regents of
the State University System, and Florida Atlantic University to
cooperatively plan for the development of a new Florida
Atlantic University campus in an area north of Donald Ross Road
and west of Military Trail.
Section 3. The Village Council urges the Palm Beach County
Legislative Delegation to actively support and work
cooperatively to locate a new Florida Atlantic University
campus within the Town of Jupiter.
Section 4. The Village Council urges the governing bodies
of Palm Beach County, Jupiter Inlet Colony, the Town of Juno
Beach, and the City of Palm Beach Gardens to adopt similar
resolutions supporting the location of the new university
campus upon the subject property and within the Town of
Jupiter.
Section 5. The Village Manager shall direct that a copy of
this Resolution be sent to the following: the Chair of the
Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation, the Chair of the
Board of Regents, the President of Florida Atlantic University,
and the presiding officers of Palm Beach County, the Town of
Jupiter, the Town of Juno Beach, the City of Palm Beach
Gardens, and Jupiter Inlet Colony.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED by Councilmember
Collings , who moved its adoption. The motion
was seconded by Councilmember Burck rt
and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:

The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and
adopted this 14th day of October, A.D., 1993.
