A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA,
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE LOXAHATCHEE HISTORICAL
SOCIETY'S ACQUISITION, RESTORATION, MAINTENANCE,
AND ONGOING PUBLIC DISPLAY OF THE JUPITER INLET
LIGHTHOUSE.
WHEREAS, the current custodian of the Jupiter Inlet
Lighthouse, the United States Coast Guard, is considering
entering into a lease arrangement with the Loxahatchee
Historical Society, transferring the care, maintenance,
historical preservation and educational responsibilities of
the Lighthouse; and
WHEREAS, the Loxahatchee Historical Society is a qualified
non - profit organization educated in and dedicated to the arts
and sciences of historic preservation and public history; and
WHEREAS, the Loxahatchee Historical Society has held a
license agreement with the United States Coast Guard in order
to provide educational experiences at the Lighthouse for the
visiting public; and
WHEREAS, the Loxahatchee Historical Society is now attempting
to broaden that license in order to raise funds to properly
restore the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and open the facility on
a regular basis to the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND VILLAGE
COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY,
FLORIDA, meeting on this 22nd day of July, 1993, that the
Village of Tequesta wholeheartedly supports, endorses and
encourages the Loxahatchee Historical Society in its efforts
to educate the public about the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and
that the Village of Tequesta endorses, encourages and
supports the Historical Society in its efforts to acquire the
Lighthouse for the purposes of operating an historic
attraction and providing educational programs for the public.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED by Councilmember
Capretta , who moved its adoption. The motion
was seconded by Councilmember rnLi� , and
upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:

The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and
adopted this 22nd day of July, A.D., 1993.
