Alice Klimas
Alice Klimas, 75, of Tequesta, died Sunday, Dec. 26. Born in New Brittain, Conn., she was one of eight children. She was the
former executive director of the Jupiter - Tequesta Chamber of Commerce She graduated from New Britain High School and
worked as a teller in a bank before becoming involved with the West Hartford, Conn. Chamber of Commerce. In 1973 she was
approached by local businessman Bill Taylor to relocate to Jupiter as the executive director of the Jupiter /Tequesta /Juno Beach
Chamber of Commerce. She took the Chamber from a small organization to a productive business group through the 1970's,
1980's and 1990's. She left the Chamber in 1992 and continued to lend her support to elderly people needing her assistance. She
was a volunteer at the Jupiter Medical Center involved with the Loxahatchee Historical Museum, Making Strides Against Breast
Cancer, a Poll volunteer and supporter of many charitable organizations within the community. Survivors include her brother,
Victor of Unionville, Conn. and her loving companion, Bob Jacks of Tequesta.; nieces, Carol Ryan and husband, John, of Stuart,
Diane Godown of Port St. Lucie, Christine Collins and husband, Jeff, of Jupiter; Nancy Klimas of Homestead; nephew, Bill Klimas
and wife, Jill, of Fort Lauderdale; and other nieces and nephews throughout the country. A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude's
Catholic Church, 204 U.S. 1, Tequesta, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15. Memorial donations may made to the Foshay Cancer Center,
1240 S. Old Dixie Highway, Jupiter, 33458. Arrangements were by All County Funeral Home and Crematory of Stuart.
