HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_11/07/2007MINUTES VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA SPECIAL VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING ATTORNEY CLIENT SESSION VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA VS. ARENA WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2007 1. Call to Order and Roll Call The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jim Humpage at 1:00 p.m. A roll call was taken by Village Clerk Lori McWilliams. Present were: Mayor Jim Humpage, Vice Mayor Pat Watkins, Council Member Tom Paterno, Council Member Amero and Council Member Calvin Turnquest. Also in attendance were: Village Manager Michael R. Couzzo, Jr., Village Clerk Lori McWilliams, Village Attorney Hawkins and the Court Reporter. 2. Approval of the Agenda MOTION: Vice Mayor Watkins moved to approve the agenda as presented; seconded by Council Member Amero. Motion unanimously carried 5-0. At approximately 1:00 p.m. Mayor Humpage recessed the Special Meeting to a Private Attorney Session to discuss pending litigation concerning a lawsuit pending against the Village by Vince Arena, in which the Village was presently a party. Those in attendance were: Mayor Jim Humpage, Vice Mayor Pat Watkins, Council Member Tom Paterno, Council Member Amero and Council Member Calvin Turnquest, Village Manager Michael R. Couzzo, Jr., Village Attorney Hawkins and the Court Reporter. 3. Mayor Humpage announced: A. Pursuant to Chapter 286.011 section (8) of the Florida Statutes, the Village Council is commencing an Attorney Client Closed Door Session for the purpose of discussion litigation strategy in the Village of Tequesta vs. Vince Arena case. B. The estimated length of the session is approximately 1 hour. C. Those persons attending the session are: Mayor Humpage, Vice- Mayor Pat Watkins, Council Member Dan Amero, Council Member Tom Paterno, Council Member Calvin Turnquest, Village Attorney Scott Hawkins, Village Manager Michael Couzzo, Jr., and the Court Reporter D. Attendees retire to the Attorney Client Session Minutes -Village Council Special Meeting 11/7/07 Page 2 4. Reconvene Council Meeting The meeting reconvened at 2:07 pm 5. Adjournment MOTION: Vice-Mayor Watkins moved to adjourn the meeting; Council Member Tumquest seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous 5-0 vote.
