HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_04-86/87_01/27/1987 • RESOLUTION NO. 4 -86/87 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES AND DESIGNAT- ING ELECTION OFFICIALS AND A POLLING LOCATION FOR THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD MARCH 10, 1987. WHEREAS, the Village Council adopted the uniform filing and election dates as adopted previously by the Legislature of the State of Florida (House Bill 742), designating the second Tuesday in March as the uniform election date for any election relating to a municipal office; and designating a filing period for candidates for any municipal office in Palm Beach County from noon on the last Tuesday in January through and not later than noon on the second Tuesday in February of the calendar year; and WHEREAS, Section 2.01 of the Village Charter provides that Council members shall be elected at large to Seats 2 and 4 in odd years; and WHEREAS, Section 8.1 of the Village Code, provides that Council may designate by resolution the list of polling places, the names of the inspectors of election and such other data as required; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, wishes to designate a polling place for the March 10, 1987 Municipal Election, designate the names of Inspectors for the Municipal Election, designate members of the Canvassing Board and designate other election procedures. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: Section 1 . That the polling place for the 1987 municipal election shall be the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida for Precinct No. 2 and Precinct No. 14 and the polls shall be open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Section 2 . That the names of the designated Inspectors of Election are: Ruth E. Butterfield Jeannette C. Gould Helen Arens Mimi J. Ludwig Gertrude J. Schroeder Martha D. Staeger and that in the event that any of the above named individuals are not able to serve as an Inspector of election, the Village Clerk shall designate a replacement inspector from the list of poll workers appointed by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections for Tequesta. Section 3 . That the Village Manager shall authorize payment of the Inspectors of Election per the rates in effect for poll workers of the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office. Section 4 . That the following individuals shall be designated as members of the Tequesta Canvassing Board for the 1987 municipal election: Bill C. Kascavelis Tequesta Village Clerk Jackie Winchester P.B.C. Supervisor of Elections Section 5 . That the tabulation of the ballots cast for the 1987 municipal election be tabulated by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections. Section 6 . That the Village Clerk shall be the Clerk of Elections and shall supervise the conduct of the election in accordance with the applicable Statutes of the State of Florida, the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the Village of Tequesta. Section 7 . That the Village Manager or his designee shall provide a copy of this Resolution to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember D, acka.i.l who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Nelson and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: For Adoption Against Adoption Carlton D. Stoddara Jill K. Gemino Edwin J. Nelson Edward C.
