HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_15-85/86_08/12/1986 RESOLUTION NO. 1S -8S/86 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, REQUESTING JUSTICE FROM THE PALM BEACH COUNTY COMMISSION WHEN AND IF THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ROAD PATROL STUDY COMMITTEE ARE INSTITUTED. WHEREAS, approximately 400 of the residents of Palm Beach County live within the boundaries of one (1) of the thirty -seven (37) municipalities of Palm Beach County; and WHEREAS, 400 of the residents of Palm Beach County are now paying for the type of police service recommended for the unin- corporated parts of Palm Beach County through municipal levied taxes; and WHEREAS, it would be grossly unfair to ask 400 of the re- sidents of Palm Beach County to nay additional taxes to Palm Beach County for this level of service for the residents of the unincorporated parts of Palm Beach County; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, on behalf of its residents feel that all residents of Palm Beach County should have the level of police service for which they are willing to pay; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida feels that it is appropriate to address this issue before it appears on the tax bill of Village residents as County taxes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. All residents of -Palm Beach County should be given the level of police service for which they are willing to pay. Section 2. The residents of the Village of Tequesta should not be taxed in order to provide police service, comparable to the service they receive, to the residents of the unincorporated sections of Palm Beach County. Section 3. The use of a municipal service taxing unit, or a County utility tax for unincorporated areas only or some other form of taxation which shall be billed to residents outside the limits of the thirty -seven (37) municipalities should be used to provide the proposed level of police service. Section 4. The Village Clerk is directed to send copies of this resolution to the Mayors of the 36 other municipalities of Palm Beach County. - 2 - Section S. The Village Clerk is directed to send copies of this resolution to each of the members of the Palm Beach County Commission. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember Ron Mackail , who moved its adoption, the motion was seconded by Jill K. Gemino and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: For Adoption Against Adoptio Edward C. Howell Jill K. Gemino Ron Mackail Carlton D.
