HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_01-85/86_10/22/1985 RESOLUTION NO. 1 -85/86 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, COMMENDING THEM FOR IMPOSING A MORATORIUM ON BILLBOARDS, AND REQUESTING THAT INPUT FROM MUNICIPALITIES AFFECTED BY SUCH BILLBOARDS BE A PART OF ANY ORDINANCE CONTROLLING FUTURE BILLBOARDS. WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, understands that the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, has imposed a moratorium on erection of billboards until a suitable Ordinance can be enacted controlling the placement and size of future bill- board construction; and WHEREAS, a large, unsightly billboard was recently constructed on the northwest corner of Tenth Avenue north and Congress Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Palm Beach County but surrounded on three sides by the Village of Palm Springs, a municipality of Palm Beach County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, as follows: Section 1. The Village Council commends the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County for their declaration of a billboard moratorium until regulation can be effected by Countywide Ordinance. Section 2. The Village Council requests that in any such Regulatory Ordinance, the County require municipal consent to any billboards constructed within enclaves of a municipality or within a reasonable distance of any munici- pal border. Section 3. That copies of this Resolution be sent to each member of the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Village of Palm Springs and the Palm Beach County Municipal League. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember W. Harvey Mapes, Jr. who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Arthur R.
