Tequesta mayor, v%ce rriay ®r u
served village well since 2003 d.
It's always time for a well- deserved rest.
k;
And Pat Watkins, who announced last week that .
she will not seek re- election to the Tequesta Village p
Council, certainly earned hers. g.
After eight years on the council — four as mayor b'
and two as vice mayor — Watkins is stepping down P.
to travel with her husband Bill, she said.
Watkins, first elected to the council in 2003 and
selected as mayor in 2004, may not have served
during the most contentious times in Tequesta, but
certainly during many pivotal events in the vil-
lage's life. E
During her time on the council, Watkins saw S
the opening of a new Village Hall in December
2006; participated in the'50th birthday celebra-
tion in 2007; agreed, with fellow council mem- l
bers, to the establishment of a Village Memorial i
in 2008; and was :among those who tLrst crossed I
the newly re- opened Tequesta Drive Bridge in
2010. 1 1
Watkins' community activism started long be-
fore being seated on the Village Council. Over 20 i
years, she volunteered at Jupiter Elementary School, i
Jupiter Middle School and Jupiter High School and i
served as PTO president and school advisory board Y
chairwoman. I
All this while holding down a full-time job as `
Realtor with Illustrated Properties.
Watkins, who attended her last Village Council
meeting Thursday, can rest easy now, assured of
having left her mark — a positive one - on Te-
questa's legacy.
