HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_02-83/84_12/13/1983 RESOLUTION NO. 2 - A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO TAKE ALL POSSIBLE ACTION TO WIDEN STATE ROAD 706 (INDIANTOWN ROAD), MORE THAN IS CURRENTLY PLANNED WHEREAS, State Road 706 from the Florida Turnpike to State Road 5 (U.S. Highway No. 1) is inadequate for current traffic which causes attendant time loss and increased energy consumption for motorists; and WHEREAS, improvement of this road is the responsibility of the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, the Tequesta- Jupiter area is experiencing an unprecedented growth rate making the need for more and better roads an immediate necessity to maintain a proper traffic flow; and WHEREAS, the area traffic problems continue to worsen; and WHEREAS, business building development is continuing on the north and south sides of State Road 706, potentially increasing acquisition costs for additional right -of -way. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: Section 1 . That the State Department of Transportation (FDOT) increase the traffic capability of that portion of State Road 706 referred to above as rapidly as possible. Section 2 . That the Regional Legislative Delegation is hereby requested to provide all possible assistance in this endeavor. Section 3 . That copies of this Resolution be directed to Governor Graham, the State Department of Transportation (FDOT), members of the Palm Beach and Martin County Legislative Delegations and the Loxahatchee Council of Governments (COG). THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember _ Thomas J. Beddow who moved its adoption. The Resolution was seconded by Councilmember Lee M. Brown and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION Thomas J. Beddow Lee M. Brown Thomas J. Little Carlton D. Stoddard William E.
