HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_14-82/83_09/27/1983 RESOLUTION NO: 14 -82/83 A RESOLUTION BY THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, FOR TITLE ACQUISITION OF SURPLUS U.S. COAST GUARD LAND IN TEQUESTA FOR RECREATIONAL AND CIVIC ORIENTED ACTIVITIES WHEREAS, approximately 30 acres of land within Tequesta, comprising an L- shaped parcel fronting on the Intracoastal Water- way, U.S. Highway No. 1 and State Road 707, may soon be declared surplus by the U.S. Coast Guard; and WHEREAS, this land adjoining the U.S. Air Force Tracking Station is zoned by Tequesta as Recreational /Open Space for community use; and WHEREAS, the area in which this U.S. Coast Guard land is located is supplied by Tequesta with municipal police protection, sanitary services, and a municipal water system with fully adequate pressure for fire protection; and WHEREAS, this U.S. Coast Guard surplus land is a logical site to provide much needed recreational and civic oriented activities for Tequesta, and areas adjacent to Tequesta, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: Section 1 . That the Village of Tequesta take immediate steps through the General Services Administration, Bureau of Land Management, and other agencies of the federal government to obtain title to the above described surplus U.S. Coast Guard land. Section 2 . That the Village of Tequesta request the assistance of governmental representatives including the Florida Congressional Delegation in expediting this transfer of title from the U.S. Coast Guard to Tequesta. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember Carlton D. Stoddard , who moved its adoption. The Resolution was seconded by Councilmember Lee M Brown and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION Thomas J. Bedd Lee M. Brown Thomas J. Little Carlton D. Stoddard William E. Wagar The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this 27 day of September , A.D., 19 8 3 . MAYOR OF TEQUESTA CARLTON D.
