A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
URGENTLY REQUESTING THAT PALM BEACH COUNTY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZE CONTINUED ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT SERVICE BY
NORTH COUNTY AMBULANCE, INC. THROUGHOUT THE 120 SQUAIE
MILE AREA IT SERVES, INCLUDING NORTHERN PALM BEACH
COUNTY.
WHEREAS, North County Ambulance, Inc. located in Tequesta now
provides Advanced Life Support service authorized by the State of Florida, in
conjunction with its 3 ambulances and 2 quick response cars; and
WHEREAS, any partitioning or restriction of Advanced Life Support
would seriously handicap the emergency rescue and life - saving capability of
North County Ambulances, restricting and impeding recruitment of ambulance
volunteers; and
WHEREAS, people throughout the 120 square mile area served by North
County Ambulance have come to depend on its quick and capable life saving
service, with over 14,000 calls answered over the past 17 years; and
WHEREAS, North County Ambulance is staffed by volunteers supplemented
by 7 paid State Certified Paramedics; and
WHEREAS, North County Ambulance volunteer service is tax -free,
saving Palm Beach County at least a quarter of a million dollars a year; and
WHEREAS, ambulance response calls by North County Ambulance are
charged to patients at the lowest rate in Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, North County Ambulance, Inc. without continued Advanced
Life Support "Certificate of Need" could be forced to terminate or greatly
reduce its volunteer operation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Village of Tequesta urgently requests the
authorization by Palm Beach County Commission of continued Advanced Life
Support service by North County Ambulance, Inc. throughout the 120 square
mile area it serves, and any additional area it is called upon to serve.

Section 2 . That the Village of Tequesta urges continued compre-
hensive Advanced Life Support service provided by North County Ambulance to
insure that such critical life saving service will not be discontinued,
diminished, or crippled in Tequesta and northern Palm Beach County.
Section 3. That the full advanced life saving facilities of North
County Ambulance, Inc. be continued, to coordinate with the rescue operations
of Fire District No. 1 which by law is not authorized to operate ambulances.
Section 4. That Advanced Life Support is urgently needed aboard
ambulances enroute to the hospital, in close communication and coordination
by radio with emergency room doctors and hospital medical staffs.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember
Carl ton D. St oddar d --- , who moved its adoption. The Resolution was
seconded by Councilmember Thomas J. Little and upon being put to
a vote, the vote was as follows:
