HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_19-81/82_07/27/1982 RESOLUTION NO. 19 -81/82 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO GRANT A NARROW STRIP OF LAND ON THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF JONATHAN DICKINSON STATE PARK TO MARTIN COUNTY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF CONNECTOR ROAD WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta is adversely impacted by heavy traffic detoured from Martin County, caused by the lack of a Connector Road linking County Line Road and north Country Club Drive; and WHEREAS, this detoured traffic is seriously congesting downtown traffic in Tequesta, is destructively impacting main arterial and residential streets paid for by the taxpayers of Tequesta; and WHEREAS, thousands of these trucks and cars daily from Martin County are impacting nearly 3 miles of Tequesta residential streets with traffic noise, vibration, and air pollution; and WHEREAS, a Connector Road bordering Jonathan Dickinson State Park is also acutely needed for a hurricane evacuation route and direct routing of fire trucks, ambulances and sheriff cars, vital to public safety and welfare for thousands of citizens in northern Palm Beach County and southern Martin County, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Tequesta convey its urgent request to the State of Florida that a narrow strip of land on the southern edge of Jonathan Dickinson State Park be granted to Martin County for construction of the Connector Road which is so acutely needed in the public interest. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember Carlton .).D.,St'oddard who moved its adoption. The Resolution was seconded by Council member Thomas J. Beddow and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION Thomas J..Bedddw. Thomas J. Little Lee M. Brown W.H. Mapes, Jr. Carlton D.
