HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_04-81/82_10/27/1981 RESOLUTION NO, 4 -81/82 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY PROPERTY APPRAISER TO RESTUDY AND RECERTIFY THE ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA. WHEREAS, the Florida Statutes require the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser to prepare the assessment roll for all of Palm Beach County, and in particular, the Village of Tequesta; and WHEREAS, after preparing said assessment roll, the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser did prepare the "1981 Certification of Taxable Value including Statement of Additions and Deletions" (DR 420) and "The 1981 Initial Recapitulation of the Ad Valorem Assessment Roll of the Village of Tequesta Florida" (DR 489) and provide same on July 24, 1981; said Certi- fication and Initial Recap being subsequently amended due to work -in- progress by letter dated September 18, 1981; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta heard comments and reports from numerous Village residents and taxpayers on the dramatic and inequitable increase in their taxable values; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta do honestly and firmly believe that there are many inequities in the taxable value for comparable uses of property within the Village of Tequesta and Palm Beach County; said inequitable assessments creating an unfair and unreasonable burden in the required payment of ad valorem taxes after levying of millages by the applicable taxing authorities; and WHEREAS, it would be in the general interest and welfare of the residents and taxpayers of the Village of Tequesta and Palm Beach County to request the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser to complete a thorough and comprehensive review and report, with corrections, on each and every parcel of property within the Village of Tequesta and Palm Beach County; said report enabling the County Property Appraiser to recertify and establish beyond any reasonable doubt that all parcels of property are on said assessment roll at "full just value" in accordance with State Law: • 0 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . - That the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta respectfully requests that the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser prepare a thorough and comprehensive review and report, with corrections, on each and every parcel of property within the Village of Tequesta and Palm Beach County in order that same may be utilized by said County Property Appraiser to recertify a more equitable assessment roll for the Village of Tequesta and Palm Beach County. Section 2 . - That said study and recertification by the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser will enable the residents and taxpayers of Palm Beach County to receive treatment on a more equitable basis of "full just value" and provide the base for a more equitable collection of ad valorem taxes by those jurisdictions having legal authority to levy millages within Palm Beach County. Section 3 . - That the Village Clerk of the Village of Tequesta is hereby directed to mail a certified copy of said Resolution to Mrs. Rebecca E. Walker, CFA, Palm Beach County Property Appraiser and also a copy of same to the Honorable Governor of the State of Florida, the Honorable Members of the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation, the Honorable Board of County Commissioners and the Honorable Mayor or Town Manager of each of the munici- palities in Palm Beach County, and the State Department of Revenue. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember Lee M. Brown , who moved its adoption. The Resolution was seconded by Councilmember Thomas J.
