A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
CREATING A TEQUESTA POLICE DEPARTMENT BUILDING FUND
WHEREAS, several citizens and organizations of Tequesta have
voluntarily offered contribution of money and support for our Police Department
in expanding its quarters and facilities in combatting crime and vandalism; and
WHEREAS, active public support for our Police Department, includ-
ing an organized citizens Neighborhood Crime Watch Patrol, can be strongly
enhanced by efficient expansion of our police quarters and facilities; and
WHEREAS, additional adjoining space for our Police Department
will be made available when the Water Department vacates its quarters and moves
to the new Village Hall annex; and
WHEREAS, members of our Police Department have volunteered to do
much of the carpentry work and construction labor for the remodeled and expanded
Police Department quarters, but will need money for materials and equipment
for improved crime control; and
WHEREAS, a substantial amount of this money can come from citizens
contributions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, propose and approve the creation of a fund to be known as
the Tequesta Police Department Building Fund, with the following guidelines:
Purpose
The fund is intended as a means by which organizations, businesses,
individuals, and others may express appreciation and encouragement of the
meritorious manner in which the police of the Village have controlled, and
intend to further control all aspects of crime in the Village.
Administration
The Chief of Police shall be Manager of the fund. He shall keep
the Village Manager fully informed as to plans and seek his counsel where
needed. The Council shall also be kept informed.
All contributions received, including checks made payable to the
Tequesta Police Department Building Fund, shall be recorded in a suitable
receipts ledger, and deposited in an account of that name in a local bank.
Withdrawals from the fund are to be suitably described on the
check and signed by the manager of the fund or the Village Manager.
The Village Manager shall periodically review the receipts
ledger and the withdrawal check stubs. He shall include in his report at
regular meetings of the Village Council, a statement of the status of the fund
and a description of the expenditures.
Use of Money:
The money in the fund, all of which is outside of the Police
Department budget, is intended to be used in any manner related to the handling
and reduction of crime in Tequesta, with special emphasis on vandalism, and
including construction and equipment for the newly expanded Police Department
quarters.
Publicity:
The manager of the fund, through newspapers and other releases,
and by providing a mounted plaque or framed proclamation with the official
seal of the Village of Tequesta, to be permanently displayed in the Police
Department, recognizing and honoring all contributors, and by such other
methods as seem appropriate, will publicize the fund.
Changes:
Any changes of the provisions governing the handling of this fund
shall be made by action of the Village Council.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was offered by Councilmember
Carlton D. Stoddard , who moved its adoption. The Resolution was
seconded by Councilmember Lee M. Brown and upon
being put to a vote, the vote was as follows:

The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and
adopted this 14 day of July A.D., 1981
