A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA SUPPORTING
THE PALM BEACH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF
POLICE, INC., AND REQUESTING A REVIEW AND REVISION
OF THE FLORIDA JUSTICE SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Association of Chiefs of Police,
Inc., as a result of their unique perspective as it relates to crime in Palm
Beach County, Florida, deemed it necessary to adopt a Resolution recommend-
ing changes in our justice system in order to more effectively combat the
increased crime rate; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta is in
complete support of the Palm Beach County Association of Chiefs of Police,
Inc., in its goal to combat the increasing crime rate; and
WHEREAS, as set forth by the Palm Beach County Association of
Chiefs of Police, Inc., in their Resolution, the citizens of the State of

that they did in the past and many of the citizens of the State live in fear
of being the victims of crime; and
WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Association of Chiefs of Police,
Inc., has determined that the criminal element no longer respects or fears
the Florida Justice System and the Florida Justice System has over a period
of time been subject to substantial reformation without due regard being
given as to the effect of those reforms on the increasing crime rate; and
WHEREAS, the law enforcement community has voiced its disagreement
with the philosophical direction the reforms in the Florida Justice System
have taken and by resolution has taken a strong stand on the matter of crime;
and
WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Association of Chiefs of Police, Inc.,
has determined that certain elements of the criminal justice system are
characterized by a laxity that encourages the criminal element to believe
that crime pays.
