WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta is in large part surrounded by the Loxahatchee River and it is essential to our public interest that the degradation of the River be arrested and that steps be taken to improve and insure its health and viability; and WHEREAS, the River continues to suffer through the build -up of man created silt on the River bottom, forming shoals in the estuary and smothering grass growth elsewhere in the River; and WHEREAS, the construction of the suggested channel will better enable the River to cleanse itself of silt and become more free - flowing, hence more productive, useable and viable; and WHEREAS, the channel will further open the estuary and enable the flow of excessive water to the ocean, reducing the danger of flooding in our Village caused by hurricanes or excessive rains; and WHEREAS, it is essential to our public interest and welfare that the permit requested by the Jupiter Inlet District be granted. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: Section 1 .
