HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_08-76/77_02/22/1977 r • RESOLUTION NO. 8 -7677 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA REQUESTING THAT THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION EXPEDITE THE CONSTRUCTION OF Il'!(PROVEMENTS TO STATE ROAD ALTERNATE AlA IN THE TEQUESTA - JUPITER AREA WHEREAS, State Road Alternate AlA is a major route between Tequesta and Jupiter; and WHEREAS, State Road Alternate AlA is a major North - South facility serving Northern Palm Beach County; and WHEREAS, the existing two (2) lane AIA road running North and South from the recently completed six (6) lane bridge across the Loxahatchee River restricts the proper utilization of the bridge, creating even greater traffic hazards; and WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation has continually deferred action on the schedule of much needed improvements to AlA. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: 1. That the Village Council expresses its deep concern over the continued delay by the Florida Department of Transportation in projected starting date for improvements to State Road Alternate AlA. 2. That the Florida Department of Transportation determine a positive construction schedule to start at a date considerably earlier than the present anticipated starting date in order to relieve an ever increasing traffic problem. 3. That copies of the Resolution be forwarded to the appropriate State, County and municipal officials. The foregoing resolution was offered by Councilmember Stephen Huggins , who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Howard Brown and upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: FOR ADOPTION AGAINST ADOPTION Peter Baron Howard Brown Dorothy Y1. Campbell Stephen Huggins Joseph D. Yoder, Jr. The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this 22 day of February A.D. , 1977.
