A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA,
FLORIDA REQUESTING AND PETITIONING THAT
THE LEGISLATIVE DELEGATIONS OF DISTRICT 77
AND DISTRICTS 78 -83 SUPPORT HB 2432 THAT
REQUIRES BEVERAGES TO BE PACKED IN RETURN-
ABLE CONTAINERS
WHEREAS, the beaches, parks, natural areas, streets and
highways in the State of Florida and more particularly in Palm Beach
County are being increasingly degraded by litter consisting of
non - degradable metal and glass beverage containers; and
WHEREAS, "throw- away" containers make up a very large
part of the litter which is highly detrimental to the State of
• Florida and more particularly Palm Beach County's natural beauty; and
WHEREAS, the disposal of beverage containers and detachable
tops into the waterways of the State of Florida and more particularly
Palm Beach County greatly contributes to pollution of the waterways;
and
WHEREAS, the taxpayers of the State of Florida and Palm
Beach County are paying continually escalating litter collection
costs resulting from "throw- away" beverage containers; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta
is of the very strong opinion that a requirement that all beverage
containers be returnable for refunds will result in reduced tax
dollars required to clean up the beaches, parks, natural areas,
streets, highways and other public areas of the State of Florida and
Palm Beach County and will result in a cleaner, more aesthetic and
safer natural environment;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
