A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF
TEQUESTA IN SUPPORT OF THE
OFFICIAL AMERICAN REVOLUTION
BICENTENNIAL OBSERVANCE
WHEREAS, the official American Revolution
Bicentennial Observance period will be from March 1, 1975
to December 31, 1976; and
WHEREAS, during our nation's bicentennial it is
desired that all persons in our country experience a
re- kindling of a sense of pride and history in our national
origins and traditions; and
WHEREAS, the Tequesta area is steeped in Florida's
• romantic history from Ponce de Leon and the saga of Jonathan
Dickinson to the modern miracle of space travel; and
WHEREAS, at the present time there has been no
formal designation by the National Bicentennial Administration
of the Tequesta area as a Bicentennial Community: and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to have official recognition
from the Bicentennial Administration in Washington, D.C. in
order to receive matching grants: receive tax -free status;
and have use of the Bicentennial symbol
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL
OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA:
Section 1. That the local Bicentennial chairperson
selected by the Teauesta Village Council be directed to work
• with the Community Civic Council and to proceed to transmit
copies of this resolution with the application to the chairman
of the Palm Beach County Bicentennial Commission for further
transmittal to the Florida Bicentennial Commission and the
American Revolution Bicentennial Administration in Washington,D.C.
Section 2. That the Village Council of the Village
• of Tequesta, Florida, invite the American Revolution
Bicentennial Administration to approve its application for
designation as a Bicentennial Community.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Village Council of the
Village of Tequesta this 2 day of January 1975.
