HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_01-73/74_12/18/1973 RESOLUTION NO. 1 -73/74 • A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, REQUESTING FLORIDA'S UNITED STATES CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO INITIATE FEDERAL LEGISLATION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PRIORITIES AS TO AVAILABILITY OF CHLORINE FOR THE OPERATION OF MATER AND SEEPAGE TREATMENT PLANTS. U'H MAS, the Village of Tequesta, Florida, has constructed and is maintaining a water treatment plant in order to provide for the needs of the community and in the promotion of the public health and i-elfare: and W!=AS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, deems that an ample supply of chlorine is vital for the proper operation of said water treatment facility; and WHEREAS, the present shortage of chlorine has created grave concern as to the availability of an ample supply of chlorine to provide proper treatment of the water facility for the community and for the proper treatment of wastewater in a treatment plant located in the Village of Tequesta, owned and operated by the Loxahatchee River Environmental Control District; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, feels that it is necessary that federal. legislation.be enacted to establish priorities for the availability of chlorine to insure an ample supply for the proper treatment of water facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA: Section 1 : That Florida's United States Congressional • Delegation be and is hereby requested to direct their efforts to provide through legislative action appropriate priorities for the availability of chlorine for the proper and safe treatment of the water facility for the Village of Tequesta, Florida, and other cormiunities throughout the State of Florida. Section 2 : That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to all members of Florida's United States Congressional Delegation, to the Board.of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, and to all municipalities in Palm Beach County, Florida. i • PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 18th day of December , A.D., 19 73 Mayor i ATTE X 7g Clerk • • •
