RESOLUTION NO. 2 — 74/71
• A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA RECOGNIZING THE PUBLIC NEED
FOR FLOOD INSURANCE AND AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE
COUNCIL TO TAKE WHATEVER ACTION IT DEEMS NECESSARY
TO COMPLY WITH FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta is a legally constituted
body which was duly constituted June 4, 1957 by Chapter 57 -1915,
Laws of Florida, Acts of 1957, and
WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta is authorized by
Chapters 6933, 69 -139 of the Florida statutes to effect flood control
measures, and
WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta recognizes the immediate need
for Flood Insurance for protection of the public, and hereby desires
participation in the Flood Insurance Program, and
WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta hereby agrees to take such
• official action as may be necessary to comply with the requirements of
the Flood Insurance Program, and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta
recognizes that all properties within its boundaries are subject to
coastal flooding and flood damage, and
WHEREAS, the fact that flooding and flood damage may occur
is born out by a Flood Plain Study recently prepared by the Corps of
Engineers, and
WHEREAS, through its Code of Ordinances, the Village maintains
considerable restrictions and codes designed to minimize flood hazards,
and
WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta will implement further
• measures determined as necessary to recognize and evaluate flood
hazards and further measures relating to land use in flood plain areas,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
• THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
1. That it will recognize and evaluate flood
hazards in.all actions relating to land
use in the flood plain areas of the properties
under jurisdiction of the Village.
2. That it will enact by December 31, 1971, and
maintain in force adequate land use and
control measures with effective enforcement
provisions consistent with the National Flood
Insurance Program criteria.
3. That it will cooperate with neighboring
jurisdictions with respect to adjoining
drainage areas and flood plains in order to
prevent the aggravation of the flooding
problem, and will work with appropriate
state and federal agencies and bodies in
every way possible in complying with the
Flood Insurance Program.
4. That the Village Council hereby appoints
the Village Manager of the Village of
Tequesta, as the official with the
responsibility, authority and means to
implement the commitments made herein.
