HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_00-68_02/18/1969 RESOLUTION • WHEREAS, it has been proposed to the legislative delegation of Palm Beach County, Florida, that the Jupiter Inlet District be abolished and its functions absorbed by a new county -wide agency to be known as the Transportation Authority; and WHEREAS, since the Jupiter Inlet District was incorporated by the Legislature of the State of Florida in 1921, the inlet has been maintained and progressively, periodically improved by use of the annual income of the District, without having any outstanding bonded indebtedness for many years; and WHEREAS, the problems of the Jupiter Inlet are peculiar unto itself requiring a continuing study and knowledge of the situation with respect to the inlet and the various local commissioners of the District over the years have had t an intimate knowledge of the inlet and its peculiarities; and WHEREAS, because of the peculiar nature and history of the inlet we believe the best interests of the citizens of Palm Beach County residing in the Jupiter Inlet District would be best served by leaving the administration of the inlet to the Jupiter Inlet District, rather than making it a part of a county- wide agency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, that they disapprove of the proposal to abolish the Jupiter Inlet .District and include its functions within a proposed county wide Transportation Authority and that certified copies of this resolution be forwarded to each member of the Palm Beach County, Florida, Legislative Delegation.
