MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE
RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
JUNE 4, 1985
The Recreation Advisory Board met on June 4, 1985 at 7 :30 P.M.
at the Village Hall to review the Proposed 1985 -1986 Recreation Budget
and to discuss the progress of the Village Green.
Members attending included: Mrs. Fran Kennedy, Mrs. Kathy
Reddecliff, Mr. Richard Berube and Gary Preston, Recreation Director.
Yvette Hammet, Courier - Journal Staff Writer was also in attendance.
The main focus of the meeting was the proposed Budget of.
$108,348 which was presented with explanation for each line item.
Richard Berube informed the Board that the proposed figures for all
insurance items would probably be much higher than the proposed in-
crease of approximately ten (10 %) percent. Fran Kennedy questioned
budget item of Fountain Maintenance of $800 which she felt should be
taken from the contribution fund. Board members questioned whether
enough money was available to begin replacing the large number of
mahogony trees that were lost during the winter freeze. The Recreation
Director informed the Board that replacing the trees was covered under
General Maintenance which was budgeted for $7,000. The Recreation
Director advised the Board that he would discuss their concerns with
the Village Manager before the budget was passed on to the Village
Council.
Other items discussed included the following:
1. replacement of the front hedge at Tequesta Park
2. the continuing problem with bore beetles
3. the progress of the Village Green.
Fran Kennedy was especially concerned about what happened to
the proposed gazebo scheduled for the Village Green. The gazebo was
a planned item to be built.as a part of the 25th Anniversary. The
Board requested that the Recreation Director fillow -up on the gazebo
and see if it could still be a part of the Village Green.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 P.M.
