Subject: letter for record
Gwen- I am attaching the letter that I read from last Thursday. I started from the second paragraph "Mr. Dalack is
certainly..." and read until the end. 1 did not read the first paragraph that night. Thanks - Pat

Dear Mike,
Following the last Village Council meeting, I
have given considerable thought to Mr. Dalack's
proposed resolution. As I stated that night, I do
not think it is a Council matter and in its
entirety, it is a document that I could never
support. However, z would like to expand upon that
to you and my fellow Council Members, if you think
it is appropriate.
Mr. Dalack is certainly entitled to his own
opinions as an individual but I take issue with
having this resolution become part of the Village
Council's agenda. I believe that we should have the
Village of Tequesta and its issues as our priority
and should concentrate our efforts on making this
the best municipality that we can. Using the
Council as a platform for controversy is not, I
believe, in the best interest of the residents of
this community.
I resent having this issue put the Village in
the headlines of the paper inviting people to see
us in a negative light. Everyone who works for and
with this community tries so hard to make positive
improvements and to offer countless hours to its
successful operation. We are a model of how well
things can and should work in a municipality. Yet,
.
.
here we are thrown into the headlines with a
position statement that should be a private and
individual matter.
This resolution is also, I believe, a personal
affront to the memory of Col. Ed Resnik. I
personall.y feel that as long as even one of our
troops is over there fighting for our freedoms, we
have a moral obligation to support them. It must be
so discouraging for them to see their fellow
countrymen arguing about whether or not they should
be there. They are there on our behalf and i feel
honor bound to thank them and support them at every
opportunity.
As we all continue to receive the resulting
fall-out from the press release, I cannot help but
wonder at the original intent and manner of
presentation of this resolution. Unfortunately, I
do not believe that
Mr. Dalack had the good of the Village in mind. He
has a position and wanted to use this forum to get
everyone's attention. He has certainly accomplished
that. Now, I hope he will explain how this issue
can benefit the Village. is Council Members, the
good name and reputation of the Village of Tequesta
should be paramount in a11 of our public positions
and statements.
With kindest regards,
