HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_03/20/1962 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNC ILMFN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA At 9:30 A. M., Tuesday, March 20, 1962, the regular monthly meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta was held at the Tequesta Country Club, Tequesta, Florida. Councilmen present were: Messrs. Cornelius, Lathrop, Kurtz, Valier, Turnbull. Also present were Robert Harp, Village Manager and Paul Potter from Winters, Cook, Brackett & Lord. The Village Manager was authorized to have the entrance gate of Tequesta Country Club Community repainted and to have street markers repainted and replaced as necessary. Upon motion by Mr. Kurtz, seconded by Mr. Lathrop a resolution supporting the Florida League of Municipalities, action in going on record approving a primary and basic legislative tax program enactment by the 1963 Legislature of an increase in the cigarette tax of 30 per package and enactment of enabling legislation permitting counties and cities to levy an additional 1¢ gasoline tax in those counties where county and municipal road and street needs require such additional finances, with the understanding that the proportion collected within a municipality be returned to that municipality was passed. (Copy of resolution attached to these minutes) Copy of resolution to be forwarded to Florida League of Municipalities. Village Manager was advised to send post cards to all residents of the Village asking them to purchase their cigarettes at locations in the Village so that the Village would derive incomes of 5¢ per package. Financial Report and Disbursements for month of February 1962 was approved showing balances as follows: General Fund....... ... ..................$15,051.94 Beautification Fund... .................. 1,413.73 Capital Replacement Fund................ 625.00 F17,090 Police Chief Dahlmeyerts Report for the month of February was read. Mayor Cornelius and Mr. Lathrop commented on dedicated and faithful service of Councilman J. P. Kurtz since the Village was chartered in 1957 and Village Attorney was authorized to draw up appropriate resolution. Village Manager was authorized to purchase appropriately engraved gavels for all former mayors. Mr. Earoll Roebuck, owner of Lots 34 and 35, had made verbal request for relocating a drainage easement 6.58 east of present location on west side of Lot 34. Upon motion by Mr. Lathrop, seconded by Mr. Valier, moving of easement was approved subject to proper legal procedure being done by the Village Attorney. Building Inspector was to be advised to have proper toilet facilities located on all building jobs and to so advise Howard Cook, General Contractor. The Village Manager is to investigate a new Occupational License Ordinance. A discussion was held on conference Mayors, Commissioners and Councilmen to be held at Orlando April 1, 2, 3, by the Florida League of Municipalities.
