HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_05/08/1962 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA At 7:30 P. If Tuesday, May 8 1962, the regular monthly meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta was held at the Parish Hall of the Good Shepherd Episcopal. Church. Councilmen present were Messrs. Cornelius, Lathrop, Turnbull, Bowden, Valier. Also present were Village Manager Robert Harp Village Attorney William A. Lord and Police and Fire Commissioner John.R. Sutton,, Jr. Ten (10) interested Village residents were also in attendance. Councilman Robert C. Valier was administered Oath of Office by the Village Clerk and signed Oath of Office is attached to these minutes. Mayor Cornelius called the meeting to order and introduced all Village officers. The Mayor then asked the Village Clerk to read the minutes of the previous meeting. Minutes were approved as read. The Treasurerts Report and Expenditures for the month of April 1962 were discussed. The report showed balances at April 30, 1962 as follows: General Fund. ...... ...............$15;036.13 Beautification Fund..........•.,.. 1,157.96 Capital Replacement Fund......,., 825.00 17.019,09 Upon motion by Mr. Valier] seconded by Mr. Bowden and passed, the Treasurerts Report and Expenditures were approved. The Village Manager reported that Brockway, Weber and Brockway engineers were reviewing the preliminary subdivision regulations as prepared by Mr. George Simons and would come before a committee to discuss their recommendations. Mr. B. W, Renninger, representing Tequesta Construction Corp, appeared before the Council requesting annexation of their lands located east of Country Club Drive and north of Bermuda Terrace to the approximate vicinity across from the Tequesta Country Club Club House. He also presented a proposed plat of the lands, called Country Club Point, which had been drawn up after consultation with the Village Manager. The matter of street lights for the proposed subdivision was also presented by Mr. Renninger. After discussion of Mr. Renningerts proposals, the matter was tabled for further consideration by the Council. Attorney Lord advised that property west of Mr. E. A. Whitets property on the Inland Waterway was U. S. Government, and at this point, he could find no authority for a municipality to annex any part of the U. S. Govern— ment owned lands. Mayor Cornelius presented the following persons for Council approval to the Zoning Board of adjustment for a term of one year as provided for in the Zoning Ordinance: A. DOUGLAS MURPHY CHARLES J. VIERCK JOHN P. KURTZ FRAFJKLIN P. HOLCOMB HENRY W. RAMSDELL Upon motion by Mr. Lathrop, seconded by Mr. Valier and passed, the above persons were duly appointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustment. DiVosta Construction Company requested permission to have name of Development placed on sign at U. S. #1 and Teauesta Drive. Councilmen felt that name of Harbor Isles should be removed from the sign and Ridgewood Homes could use their space. Upon motion by Mr. Valier, seconded by Mr. Lathrop and passed, DiVosta Construction was authorized to put Ridgewood name on sign. Upon motion by Mr. Bowden, seconded by Mr. Turnbull and passed, the Council authorized purchase of Speed-O-Print Automatic Addresser for M9.50 plus any applicable taxes. Police Commissioner Sutton was requested to find out who is authorized to police and make arrests on U. S. #1 so that speeding can be controlled. Council authorized Mayor Cornelius to write a letter to the County Commissioners in support of Jupiter Inlet Beach Colonyts request for replacement of the bridge across the Waterway on SR 707. Spectators were given time for comments. Directed to the Councilmen. Mayor Cornelius presented an engraved gavel to Mr. Lathrop as a token of appreciation of the citizens of the Village for his services as Mayor from April 1960 to April 1962.
