HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_05/15/1962 SPECIAL MEETING ; OF THE COUNCILMAN 'OF THE VILLAGE OF TE'QUESTA, 'FLORIDA A speetal meeting of the Councilman of the Village of Toquesta was held at 9;303 A.M. Tuesday, May 15, 1962 at Tequesta Country Club. Couneilman present were: Nessrs. Cornelius, Valier, - Lathrop 'and Bowden. Village Manager R''Obert` Harp was also present Councilman Turn- bull had' advised the Village Clerk that he would be' unable' to attend the meeting. Mayor Cornelius- advised that the meeting had been called for the purpose of further, discussion on the annexation of Country Club Point and,,discussion of the preliminary plat of the proposed subdivision, whih had been presented by Mr. Renninger at the council meeting of May 8." Village Manager advisetd council that developers were" widening canals to 85 feet and would still retain l06o0 square foot minimum let sizes. Following the discussion, �o2r . Lathrop moved as follows-. Y) That the lands of Tequesta Construction Corporation called Country Club Point, lying east of Country Club Drive and North of Bermuda Terrace, be annexed to the territorial limits of the Village of Tequesta when proper petition requesting annexation has been received by the Village and ordinance has been adopted, Lands to be annexed with R -1 zoning classification as provided in Village Zor Lng Ordinance No, 43. preliminary 2} That the p y plat of Country Club `oint be accepted and that the - final plat and improvements be ,subject to-the terms and conditions of the proposed Subdivision Regulations in.clud. -, . ing bond for developers with acceptable company of 110 of cost of r9ad, drainage and bulkhead improvements, 10,000 square foot minimum lot sizes and Palm Beach County specifications for roads and drainage, including read shoulder stabilization. Councolman Lathrop and Village Manager reported that Father Jerome Martin of Saint Jude Parish had requested verbally that the Catholic Church property on US #1 near ,north .,village limits be annexed to the VjUl Village Attorney Lord has been trying for some time to get ,sufficient description of triis property so that it could be annexed. Two proposed site development plans and a building -plan for proposed church construction were shown to Council. A discussion was held con- cerning the annexation and Lathrop moved- seconded by Bowden and passed that the Catholic Church property in the name of the Most Rev. Coleman F. Carroll, D.D. J.C.D,, Bishop of the Diocese of Miami be annexed to the Village limits, subject t* receipt of proper petition and adoption of proper ordinance and subject to further restriction that no street dedications be included with final plat. y To provide for greater efficiency and service in various matters that arlae from time to time and to allow adequate thought and discuss- ion of these mattera, the Village Wanager suggested that workshop sessions of council be scheduled for the last Tuesday of each month and councilmen are to be notified whether or not there is to be a meeting. Council fully agreed with the reeommendation and approved putting it into effect immediately. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10 :45 A.M. Monday, May 21 1962 at the Village office 0! in Village Square Shopping Center, US. #1, Tequesta, Florida. L w to Councilmen present were; Messrs. Cornelius, Vali.er, Lathrop, Turnbull and Bowden. Village Manager Harp was also present. Mayor Cornelius advised that the meeting had been called to W consider the annexation of the Catholic Church property for which Q a verbal request for annexation had been made at the meeting held W May 15 1962, and for which a formal petition signed by Coleman 0 - F. Carroll, Bishop of the Diocese of Miami had been received. d5 Councilman stated that since approval had been given to the request for annexation at the prior meeting subject to receipt of a formal petition, that it would be in order for the adoption of CY Ordinance Noe 44 annexing the lands described in the petition to O the territorial limits of the Village of Tequesta. O ' Lathrop moved, seconded by Bowden that Ordinance No. 44 annexing the lands of the Bishop oaf the Diocese of i4ami to the territorial limits of the Village of Tequesta be adopted. Motion was passed. All Councilman being present, the Ordinance was passed and adopted on first reading. There being n6 further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10 :oo A. M.
