COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
A Public earing was held by the Councilmen of the Village at the Church
of the Good Shepherd on Friday, September 7, 1962 at 7;30 P.M. Council -
present were; Messrs. Cornelius, Valier, Lathrop, Bowden and Turnbull
Also, present were Robert Harp, Village Clerk and Village Attorney William
A. Lrd. Approximately 20 interested property owners also attended the
meeting.
The Mayor advised the meeting that it had been called to hear
and arguments for and against applications of Mr. Earl Blouin, Mrs.
Frank . Wallace and Mr. William E. Schlusemeyer, owners of'Lot 19,
Block 22, Lot 20, Block 22 and various lots in Section "B ".. Jupiter
in the Pines respectively, to have lots 17, 18, 19 and_20, Block 22
re -zoned to C -L from R -1 zoning since the developer had sold these lots
for business lots and had intended them to be, business lots, just as
the other three corners of Seabrook Road and l equesta Drive had been
sold and platted for business. The Mayro asked the Village Manager to
review the situation from the beginning and the Manager produced minutes
of meetings, letters from the developer of Jupiter in the Pines, Mr.
William Schlusemeyer, Vacation Homes, Inc. Warranty Deed and preliminary
plat, all referring to the lots in question as to be used for business
purposes.
The Mayor then asked for comments on the application from property owners
attending the meeting. Mrs. Rose Birong, owner of Lot 16, Block 22,
stated that khe was very much opposed to the proposed re- zoning because
she had purchased her lot in 1960 and had not been aware or advised of
the fact that this lot was located next to a 20 foot wide alley and
property platted for business use. She called the Couneilts attention
to the fact that various advertising materials had been used to .pro-
mote the residential aspects of the area and community. Since her pro-
perty is abutting the property in question and feels that C -1 zoning
would devalue her property, she is opposed to the re- zoning.
Mr. David Lewis, owner of Lot 10, Block 22 statedthat he was opposed to
the re- zoning because he felt that adequate business zoning was already
available and felt that this proposed change in zoning would be the.
start of additional requesta for Commercial Zoning on the north side
of Tequesta Drive west of Seabrook Road,
Mr, Dennis McDonald, owner of Lot 13, Block 22, stated that he was
opposed to the rezoning since adequate C -1 zoned areas were presently
available and was afraid of further business encroachment into R -1
areas.
A letter from Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Bondi, owners of Lot 14, Block 22
protesting the change to Commercial Zoning was presented for the record
by Mr. Mc Donald.
Mr. Warrington Stark, owner of Lot 6, Block 26 stated that the favored
the lots in xaquestion being rezoned to C -1 classification.
Mr. Sharpe, owner of lot 12, Block 22 stated that he had no objections
to the proposed re-zoning provided that no more lots would be re- zoned.
Mr. David Stewart, owner of Lot 8, Block 22, which is beyond tka 500
feet from the property in question, stated that he objected to a change
in the zoning.
