HELD BY THE COUNCILMLN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQIUESTA, FLORIDA
The Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta held a Public Hearing
at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Seabrook Road on Tuesday, August 13,
1963, at 8:00 P.M.
Councilmen present were: Messrs: Valier, Cornelius, Turnbull and
Stewart. Also present were Robert Harp and Attorney Paul Potter.
Mayor Valier stated that the hearing had been called and adver-
tised for the purpose of amending the Village Zoning Ordinance as
follows:
1.) To prohibit the construction of filling stations on Tequesta
Drive hest of U. $. Highway No. 1.
2.) To prohibit construction of filling stations urithin a speci-
fied number of feet from each other, the distance to be
measured from Lot Line to Lot Line. The specific distance
is to be determined at this hearing.
There were no persons present to protest the proposed changes in
the Zoning. The Councilmen gave serious thought to all phases of the
proposed changes and believed that with the highly residential area
along Tequesta Drive that filling stations should not be allowed to
be constructed in this area. It i%es the general feeling of the Coun-
cilmen that filling stations should not be constructed any closer than
600 feet to each other measured from Lot Line to Lot Line. The dis-
tance between the two stations presently in the Village is approxi-
mately 600 feet.
Following the discussion and there being no protests, Cornelius
moved, seconded by Stewart that the construction of filling stations
be prohibited on Tequesta Drive , of U. S. Highway No. 1. Motion
passed unanimously. Cornelius moved, seconded by Turnbull that the
minimum distance between filling stations be 600 feet measured from
Lot Line to Lot Line. Motion unanimously passed.
Attorney Potter ryas instructed to have an Ordinance drawn re-
flecting these changes in Zoning Ordinance No. 43.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, the
meeting was adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
