MRIUTES OF THE COUNCILMAN OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
At 9:30 AM, Tuesday, July 14, 1959, the regular monthly meeting of
the Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta was held at the Village Office at
Village Square, Jupiter, Florida. Those present were: J. P. Kurtz, Zeke
Cornelius, Thomas H. Daly, Albert Alderman, W. F. Lathrop and Robert Harp.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer's report for period ended June 30, 1959 was read and approved.
Balance of $3,004.78 in account.
A discussion was held pertaining to purchase of appropriate sign to be
located at U.S. Route #1 and El Portal Road listing names of various contributors
to Village of Tequesta. A motion was made and unanimously carried to purchase
said sign. Mr. Alderman is to rave charge of securing proper type of sign.
A motion was made and unanimously passed that Village of Tequesta
directional signs be purchased and placed at proper places.
A general discussion was held concerning the control of sins in the Village
of Tequesta, the feeling being that there should be some type of control over
the sire and type signs to be used. Mr. Cornelius suggested that William Lord
check with the city of Palm Beach relative to their ordinance controlling signs
and report his findings to Council at early date.
Clerk was instructed to write letter to William Schlusemeyer concerning
vePjr poor drainage in Jupiter in the Pines and to call Mr. Scrlusemeyer's attention
to the minutes of the council meeting held December 31, 1958 at which time he agreed
to provide proper drainage and road completion.
It was moved and unanimously* agreed that Mr. Schlusemeyer, by his signature..
Approve plans for builders as to deed restrictions prior to submission for
approval by Village of Tequesta and he is to be so not by the Clerk.
Ordinance X22 was read and unanimously approved covering land described in
attached petitions covering properties owned by:
Carl and Lorraine Lambert
George and Freida Fillbran.dt
Bernard M. Jones
Floyd Ciuci
Walter C. Peak
Thomas H. & Virginia Daly
who petitioned the Village that the lands described therein be annexed to the
territorial limits of the Village of Tequesta.
Moved and unanimously approved that cost of Occupational License under
Ordinance #8 be flat fee of $50.00 per year.
It was moved and unanimously agreed that the Village Clerk write to Palm
Beach County to have the name of E1 Portal Road from Route #1 to Tequesta Gate,
changed to Tequesta Drive.

Moved and unanimously agreed that V_i.11c.p;e of Teauesta pay dues of $10.00
for f iscal year 1959 -60 to Association of Municipalities of Palm Beach County
and 812.50 for annual membership dues to Tri- County Governmental League.
The Village Clerk was instructed to write, Flo -Gas Corporation relative
to Ordinance x/12 reminding them that they should be collecting 5% tax from
customers and remitt =ng 5% tax to the Village of Teauesta on a monthly basis,
under this ordinance.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 AM.
