HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_09/08/1959 MINUTES OF THE COUNCILMEN► OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA At 9:30 AM, Tuesday, September 8, 1959, the regular monthly meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta was at the Village Office at Village Square Shopping Center, Tequesta, Florida. Those present were: Walter.F. Lathrop, John P. Kurtz, Albert Alderman, Zeke Cornelius, Thomas H. Daly, Robert Karp, Glynn Mayo and Attorney William Lord. Mr. Mayo spoke concerning formation of a tri -city police force for Jupiter, Tegvesta and Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony. The force would consist of 4 men who would provide for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week patrolling of the area. Mr. Mayo estimated a first year budget of $18 to $20,000. with the Village of Tequesta's share approximately $8,000. Since mutual acceptance of such a plan would have to be obtained from each of the three municipalities, the Council did not take any action on the proposal, but asked Mr. Mayo to provide a written copy of his plan. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. It was moved and unanimously approved that Robert Harp be made Assistant Clerk of the Village of Tequesta. Mr. Lathrop advised the Council that Palm Beach County had approved change of name of E1 Portal Drive to Tequesta Drive. He also advised that all utilities have been advised of new village boundaries. Mr. Alderman reported that signs for the new entrance at Tequesta Drive and U.S. #1 was partially complete. Council accepted the following deed restrictions in the deed to property owned by Jupiter Water Company, Inc. on the north side of Tequesta Drive: 1. No commercial buildings or commercial structures of any kind or nature, exceeding 12 feet in height (one story), shall be placed or constructed on said premises. 2. The commercial use of said premises shall be restricted to the distribution of water. The & was instnicted to notify Jupiter Water Company, Inc. of the Council's unanimous approval of these restrictions and that such a structure should be peoperly landscaped. They were also to be asked to'consider installation of this water storage tank in the Tequesta Golf Course area. . It was unanimously agreed that Village Court will be held each Monday at 10:30 AM./ at Village Square Shopping Center. Chief of Police Dahlmeyer is to make any necessary arrangements for payment of bonds and jail for prisoners. Florida Public Utilities Company advised the Council that natural gas would be brought into this area when use would justify. Jupiter Taxi. Service is authorized to pick up passengers calling Jupiter for their services. They are to be notified that an Occupational License can be obtained for $10.00 a year upon sending the Village a Certificate of Insurance showing adequate coverage. Attorney 'Lord advi; ;ed council that he will prepare necessary papers for abandonment of Tee Lane, Jaega Place and a section of Palmetto Way at Tec;aesta Drive. Council unanimously ...greed to accept deed to Bridge Road as part of Village of Teau e3t•a when received from Mr and Mrs John Ziegler. Unanimously moved and agreed that a title company be contacted by Winters, Cook, Brackett and Lord to investigate title to all parcels of land previously annexed to Village. Cost, is not to exceed $5.00 per parcel. Robert Harp is to contact Mr. Olson, Village Manager of North Palm Beach, and to get full information relative to voter's registration. Was unanimously agreed that all annexations made in Calendar Year 1959 would be placed on village tax roll as of January 1, 1960.
