MINUTES OF THE COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA At 9,30 A. M. Tuesday April 12, 1960 the regular mon$hly meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of h questa was held at the Village Office at Village Square Shopping Center, Tequesta, Florida. Those present were; J. P. Kurtz, Walter F. Lathrop, Zeke Cornelius, Robert C. Valier, Thomas H. Ddy, Robert Harp and Attorney William A. Lord. The first order of busimess was the swearing in og the three new councilmen elected at the first annual election held March 15, 1960, namely, - John P. Kurtz, Jr. Group I Cecil Cornelius Group III Robert C. Valier Group V Each were sworn in and signed an oath of office and same are attach- ed hereto and become a part of these minutes. A motion was made and carried appointing the following officers, Mayor Walter F. Lathrop Vice- ulayor John P. Kurtz Jr, Village Tax Collector Thomas H. Daly Village Tax Assessor Robert C. Valier Village Clerk Robert Harp Each of the officers were sworn in and signed an oath'of office and same are attached to these minutes. John P. Kurtz was appointed Village Ireasurer, sworn in and signed oath of office. Attached to these minutes is a list of contractors who attened the meeting to discuss the new system for Occupational Licenses adopted at March 8, 1960 meeting. After much discussion it was the general feeling of the contractors and councilmen that all contractors who now hold or have held Village of Tequesta Occupational Licenses should be exempt from taking examinations for license but that any new applicants for Occupational Licenses must take and pass or have passed a written or oral examination given by a municipality of Palm Beach County. A resolution was unanimously passed and adopted and copy of resolution becomes a part of these records. The Village was given permission to allow Mr. Lozito, Examiner for City of West Prim Beach, to give contractors examinations in Village office and submit results of testing to Vi prior to certification. Council accepted petition to annex additional piece of land submitted by Attorney A.A. Flanagan for Chas. H. Crim, Trustee. Ordinance No, 31 annexing these lands was unanimously passed and adopted. 50 11 7 i Minutes - Village of Tequesta -Page 2- April 12, 1960 Moved and unanimously agreed to accept map of Village of 'Tequesta and legal description of territorial limits of Village as prepared by Thomas L. Mackey office and David E. Pettigrew. Invoices in amounts of $100.00 and $75.00 for this work were approved for payment. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Financial report was read and approved showing zash bal- ance of $7,108.89 at March 31, 1960. Payment of bills totaling $1,929.36 paid in March 1960 were approved. (Copy attached.) A resolution was unanimously adopted consenting to and ratifing a drainage easement on north 10 feet of lot no. 166, Tequesta owned by Tom Carlson. Council mnanimously approved installation of flasher beacons at intersection of US 1, Tequesta Drive and Waterway Drive as proposed by the Florida State Road Department ad for which they have issued Permit No. 60 -21 to the Villlage. Estimated cost is approximately $1,200.00• A resolution requesting Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company to provide "TOLL FREE telephone service between Jupiter and We t Palm Beach, Florida was unanimously passed and adopted. Copies of resolution were sent to; Mr. Dobbs, c/o Telephone Co., and Mr. L. B. Clark. Copy of resolution is made a part of these minutes, Councilmen unanimously approved securing qualified eng- ineering services whenever engineering advice will be needed. (Suggested; Col. Gee, Elliot Gross, J.P. Davis, A.C. Mock, Brockway. All bottle gas companies selling bottled gas in Village of Tequesta are to be advised that they are to charge customers in the territorial limits of the Village of T equesta a Village tax of 5% on all sales and to remit same to Village on monthly basis.
