OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
At 9:30 AM, Tuesday June 14, 1960 the regular monthly meet-,
ing of the Councilmen of the Village of 1 equesta was held at the
Village Office in Village Square Shopping Center, Tequesta, Florida.
Those present were; W. F. Lathrop, J. P. Kurtz, Zeke Cornelius,
Robert Valier, Thomas H. Daly, Robert Harp and Attorney's
William A. Lord and Bill Jackson.
As requested in the previous meeting, County Commissioner
Henneth Foster and Zoning Director Bernard Munsey appeared be-
fore the meeting to discuss zoning in the Village of Tequesta.
Geheral problems relative to zoning were discussed and Mr. Foster
and Mr. Munsey ]believed thet the Village should hire a qualified
engineer to make a USE STUDY of the Village and recommend a zoning
plan.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Financial report was presented and approved showing a cash
balance of $8,014.00 at 141 ay 31, 1960. May disbursements were approved.

Mr. Cornelius moved that the Village hire George Simon to
make zoning study of the Villg e. Seconded by Mr. Valier and un-
animously approved.
Mr. Kurtz moved that a resolution be adopted requesting the
County Commissioners of al m 'each County to place moneys in next
years budget to replace the present Hoolay Point bridge with a new
concrete bridge with a fishing walk. Seconded by Mr. Valier and
unanimously approved.
Attornyy Lord discussed various items he had been contacted
about.
Moved and unanimously agreed that Village enter into Street
Light Agreement with Florida Power and Light Company and have lights
installed initially at Seabrook Rd. and Tequesta Drive, Tequesta Dr,
and Riverside Drive and Tequesta Country Club Community entrance
gate. Cost approximately $34.00 per light per year.
Moved and unanimously agreed to have ceneter line painted
yellow on Tequesta Drive from US #1 to Riverside Dftu, Cost $75.00.
Mr. John R. Sutton, Jr. appeared before Council to present
his ideas on police and fire procedures for Village of Tequesta.
Letter containing his recommendations attached to these minutes.
The Mayor was instructed to commend Mr. Sutton by letter for
his very fine suggestions ans was empowered to appoint Mr. Sutton
as Police and Fire Commissioner.
Mr. Cornelius was appointed to contact County Mosquito Con-
trol District (Mr. Seabrook) to see what help they could and would
give the Village in control of insects and report to Council next
meeting. Approval was given for purchase of new DYNA -FOG spary
machine in event no help for control of insects is available from

county. Council will accept gift of Dyna -Fog machine from Tequesta,
Inc. to be used as trade -in for new machine. Cost $1595.00 less
trade in $700.00 net cost $895.00
Payment was approved in amount of $36.06 for police chief
to purchase used typewriter for his office.
Police Chief is to obtain three (3) appraisals of station
wagon to present to council next meeting to aid in determing a
price which Village should pay for purchase of wagon from Tequesta,
Inc.
Mayor reported that the 1960 Census figure for Village of
Xequesta was 196.
Village counsel advised that Village could not change set-
backs as established by filed plat of T equesta.. Therefore request
for 20 foot setback by Mr. ifford is disregarded and he is to be
so advised og the situation.
A letter from the Jupiter Ministerial Association relative
to teen -age actions and morals was read and council approved
advising them that they would be glad to assist with the problem
in any manner that they could.
Mr. Schlusemeyer is to be asked to submit his pal ns for
new planting at Village entrance on US #1 to council for their
approval prior to planting.
Attorney Lord was requested to submit Dog Ordinance for next
meeting.
Mayor was instructed to contact Judge Cromwell relative to
her fee for the Meyers case.
Rev. Braden of United Presbyterian Church had requested
approval of Council for construction of church building at proposed
location. Approval was granted providing the complete overall plan
should be approved by council prior to purchase of the land at the
proposed site.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 11;55 AM.
