HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_08/09/1960 MINUTES OF THE COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA At 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 9, 1960, the regular monthly meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of 1 e questa was held at the Village 0 ffice in Village Square Shopping Center, Tequesta, Florida. Those present were; Walter F. Lathrop, Robert C. Valier Thomas Daly, Zeke Cornelius, Robert Harp, William Lord and Bill Jackson. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Maynard T. Murray, owner of property between Jupiter Utility Company pumping station and Old Dixie Highway appeared be- fore meeting to request shell fill for road in front of his property and water company pumping station so that easier access could be had from route #1 to Old Dixie Highway. Council advised Mr. Murray that they would be willing to participate on a three way sharing of the cost for shelling by the Village, Mr. Murray and Jupiter Utility Company. Mr. Murray agreed to this arrangement and will be advised as soon as Jupiter Utility Company gives theft approval. Mr. Howard Gould appeared before meeting to request a rest- aurant license from the Village. He is going to have a restaurant in Mr. Murrayts property. He further requested Council approval for trandfer of his beer license into the Village of Tequesta. Mr. Cornelius moved, seconded by Mr. Valier that Mr. Gouldts beer license transfer into Village be approved. Motion was unanimously adopted. FinancM :statement for July 1960 was approved. A petition requesting annexation of notth and south entrance roads to Village Square Shopping Center was presented to Village Council by Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony, Inc. It was the unanimous feeling of Council that these roads should be hard - topped before acceptance by the Village. Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony, Inc. is to be so notified and therefore no action was taken on the petition at this meeting. Mr. File, Nr. Haymond and Mr. Bannister from the Jupiter- Hobe Sound Kiwanis Club came before the meeting to outline the club's plans concerning the recreation park they are building on County Line Road. Mr. Haymond gave a very fine and enlightning talk on the progress of work to date and further plans for the park. Council praised them for the great undertaking and wished them much success with the project and offered Village assistance whenever available, Mr. Cornelius moved, seconded by Mr. Valier that the following expenditures be made from CIGARETTE TAX FUND: Police car 762.50 First Aid Equipment 502.95 Patrol Expense(No salary) 648.71 Police car rental etc. 3996.18 $5910.34 leaving balance of $190.28 in fund at July 31, 1960, Motion un- animously adopted. G 3 -~ (2) The Florida Power &; Light Company advised that they could not accept the franchise ordinance which was passed on first reading last meeting. Therefore Mr. Cornelius moved, seconded by Mr. Valier that the Ordinance be read in full fot first reading. Motion was unanimously approved and proposed franchise ordinance was then read. Clerk is to check other local communities to find out what they have been a sked for memberships on Resources Development Borad of Palm Beach County. °olice Chief Dahlmeyer reported on Civil Defense and pre- sented copy of Salhaven's Civil efense Plan. Chief is to get more copies of plan so Councilmen ean'read and make suggestions for Village plan. Moved and unanimously adopted that clerk br authorized to,purchase gasoline and oil for police cars and to store same at I- equesta Country Club. Moved and unanimously agredd that Building Permit fees for commercial building bB based upom $4.00 per sq. ft. Clerk is to contact -ersons living on Tequesta Drive in Country Club Community to see if they have any objections to changing name to Country Club Drive. Mayor was authorized to hire landscape architect for planning entrances at US #1 and Tequesta Drive and authorized $100.00 for this planning. Ordinance 34 providing for licensing of all dogs within the Corporate limits of Village of Tequesta was given first reading. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11;20 A. M.
